[Closed] Which bell / horn / Boadicea hubs for zombie pedestrians?

Like a scene from a Romero film trying to get across London this morning, was hoarse with "Oi!"s by the time I got to work.

So what bell / air horn type thing? Was in Decathlon the other day and they had squeezy rubber bulb 'honk' type horns, but I figure they're probably a bit tricky to work from the hoods...

I'm thinking something electronic maybe, ideally that'll make me sound like the juggernaut from 'Duel' approaching ๐Ÿ˜‰

Any suggestions?

All traffic must give way to pedestrians, including cycles.

Even on low, the airzound makes lorries and buses stop, thinking there's a bigger lorry coming through. It is probably what you want. On high, it is a proper foghorn, so loud that your ears ring if you use it for too long.

That Airzound thing. You don't have to attach the bottle as well do you ?.

A bike related article on the Gadget Show recently, one of the bikes had a loud horn on it, was it the airzound ?.

Sounds like we need a comment from the [s]driving destructor[/s] wannabe physio to the stars.

Highway Code stresses that road users should take care when pedestrians are about: Highway Code

Plus it is specifically stated that drivers should yield to pedestrians crossing a road you are turning into, but the general rule is be aware and don't just steam along without consideration.

So actually it doesn't say "All traffic must give way to pedestrians, including cycles. "?

No.

Neither does it say "If a pedestrian has the timerity to attempt to cross the road let them have it with a 120db fog horn."

I'm liking the sound (no pun intended) of a crazy loud horn but i'm not commuting in London at the moment.

Possibly worth a day trip out though ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

It doesn't say that pedestrians should wander into busy roads without looking in a state of iPod oblivion either:

True, but the weighting is far too much on the road user these days. I very much like the idea of the shared spaces that are becoming more common in see European cities - everyone rolls through nice and slow, fully aware that the road is not their race track.

Well, at the risk of adopting the James Martin "I was only joking" defence, I wasn't *entirely* serious (clue in the phrase 'Boadicea hubs' I thought).

I just want to get to work without running into anyone and without ending up under a bus because I've had to avoid someone who's just stepped out without looking.

Much as the idea amuses me, I think an airhorn might be overkill though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Everyone else seemed to be taking at face value though!

A bell is nicer. Riding further out from the edge makes a big difference too, although it is easy for me to say that because I don't ave to ride through really really heavy traffic.

OMG, did you remove the bell that legally must have come with your bike?? You rebell!

This megahorn is much better.

Its got a tiny wee button that you can attach to your brake lever so you can both brake and "inform" the other road user at the same time ..

I considered the airzound, but are you really going to get the horn rather than the brake when some twonk steps out suddenly? (unless you're sure they'll jump high enough to let you under)

(it also works _politely_ from about 150 metres if you want want people wandering on cycle paths to look round and see you're coming, rather than riding to within 10 yards before they hear a bell)
