Have got till the 24th July to get my voucher, kinda undecided as to what/whether to get another bike, fancy a 29er and maybe something to replace my old Kona ss.

Can you get a Singlular Swift for less than a grand?

Any other recommendations?

You might be about to squeeze a rigid ss swift into a grand. Failing that there's plenty of complete bikes from fisher, kona, voodoo etc.

Have a look on the On One web site!
They have a rigid 29er Scandal for £899 with ave bits and a xt suspension version for a bit more! You could also up grade the forks a later day as an option!

Oh! They also have the Reba 29er forks on offer for £299 from £499.

I might have heard that they have some more coming in July, although that might have been steel inbred 29ers, I have a 456 and a Pompino so maybe a chance might be nice tho..

I just got a 29er scandal on the C2W, and i am very suprised how much i like it 🙂 for £899 + wheel and brake upgrade, how can you go wrong.

I have started to use it more than my other bikes 🙁 but i have added sus forks to it (from ebay)

Single speed? Aye, tried that, but my 'mountain' biking involves hills.
My recommendation is a Gary Fisher (Now Trek).

Some will chip in here with cracked frame stories etc (probably 3 out of thousands but no one reports their frames haven't broken!) but I have a 2010 Paragon running a 120mm fork, I'm over 200lbs kitted up and ride some seriously bouldery trails up here in Scotland and it's been brilliant.
I'll sell you the ss conversion it came with! 🙂

Well worth giving Roger\Dan over @ Head for the Hills a call to see what they can do. If you can provide some of your own components (saddle\seat\bars etc) there's a good chance it'll come in under £1k

Nick, I tried to do exactly the same thing last year.
Unfortunately despite the best efforts of the guys at "Head for the Hills" in Dorking we couldn't quite get a Swift fully built in for under a grand without making some really compromised component choices.

If you're interested I can probably dig out the build specs we developed and mail them to you
