I'm looking for the For Sale section.
I finally found Classifieds - Black writing over a Coffee Bean wallpaper but only wanted there.
Could someone please point me to the for sale section?

That has sadly replaced the forsale section!
And the wanted section has gone all together to.

There is a for sale section and a wanted section there.

Not on my computer there isn't.

It just says Wanted Ads

If you hover over it then it does. If you just click it goes to the classifieds.

Click on the word "Classifieds"
ignore the drop-down

If you're not seeing any ads after that then it could be blocked by an ad blocker on your computer.

You can also use the "change the channel" drop down boxes and select classifieds from there.

Bloody hell this website is awful. I know there's other threads but it seems they are trying to force people to leave. It can be accessed through Channels. Not through Classifieds though.

Because you're not looking in the new Classifieds.

Iolo, you are missing nothing not being able to access it. Sadly it’s not going to improve as it’s all a bit of a closed shop in terms of feedback STW would rather a couple of paid ads and less traffic to the website.

18 Ads in 24 hours is pretty good going add to that the traffic has increased I reckon you're talking rubbish.

Except it's perfectly evident that for some people those destinations are not easily found. Building a good interface is a matter of understanding why.

The top level navigation on here is a mess, to be honest.

Of which only 1 ad has been paid for in 7 days! And another post about not being able to work of find the classifieds! Working a treat, yeah. But you can prove what you want with ‘blind stats’ you will never be able to measure what is lost or how many ads could have been listed on the old system.

That point of view is the absolute antithesis of creating a good user experience.

I do workshops with users. Sometimes I'll have designed something which doesn't hit the mark; to me it'll have seemed clear, but they'll say it's not. At that point my job becomes one of understanding why it's not clear and modifying the design accordingly. If they told me it's not clear and I replied "maybe your skills are lacking"—well, I'm sure you can imagine.

Anyway, to me it seems clear how this particular navigation is flawed. It confused me when I first saw it.

Not at all, thing is with stats they are only as good as the information you give or what’s in front of you...and in the words of the late great Jim Bowen...look at what you could have won.

One thing I know for sure, I have now had 4 people not including myself, whom subscribe and have for a long time, who as a result will not renew. But like has been said, STW are listening!

Slightly ironic.

Remember when Jobbs told people it wasn't the phone they were just holding it wrong
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/blog/2010/jun/25/iphone-reception-problems-solved
If people can't find things, or see things maybe it's a sign of a bigger problem

Still everything for me is still only showing in the right hand column under the ****ing Advertising in a format it's hard to read.

Does Chips have an update for us following his note taking and chats with the Dev team

Mike, that was kind of my point. The silence speaks volumes. I’m gutted the moderator are left to carry the can.

This whole dabacle is just such a shame. It’s like STW have just given up, desperate to scratch around for £9 a week revenue from paid ads at the sacrifice of long term subscribers.

I used to love browsing the for sale section, the Classifieds isn't as nice as the titles seem shorter so less incentive to click on most ads as you don't know what's inside, it takes a lot longer to scroll through them too as the pictures take up a lot of room. Plus I just don't get what was wrong before...?

As as result I know I only visit stw about half as much now.

I can't understand why the classifeds link that was at the top of the forum between "chat forum" and "forum help" wasn't simply re-directed towards the new classifieds.

Even more baffling is why on earth there are still links to the old classifieds and wanted forums that are now closed while the link to the new forum is hidden at the bottom of a drop down menu. A position that means the menu needs to be scrolled down to before it shows on many screens. (mine for one).

Probably all the stupid users fault tho, eh?

Right, there's obviously a few IT bods on here who, I get the impression, would be embarrassed to put out work this shoddy. Why oh why are the powers that be so hell bent on alienating people? Staggering 🙁 Have they even commented lately?

I used to go on every couple of days and find at least 1 1/2 pages of fresh adds but now there is only a couple of posts. It’s like people can’t be bothered to post stuff up. I’m on a n iPhone Se and some of the wording in the search section overlaps the boxes and it’s a hell of a job to scroll through the sections as it disappears out of sight.
It used to be like wandering round a car boot sale now it’s more like a new car show room. Lots of glitz but no content.
Rubbish

Come to the conclusion I just don't like the new classifieds. I've really tried to! Used to cruise the old one many, many times a day, "just in case". Even more so when actively building a bike.😊

Now, it's just a chore. The amount of ads seems to be down too which will set it on a negative feedback loop im afraid.

I rarely criticise this forum. On this point I feel I must.

I genuinely forget we even have a for sale forum now, which really says it all.😕

Not to worry. Two guys who never use it will be along shortly to tell you it's busier and better than ever and any problems you have with it are all your own fault.

Nothing’s changing or going to change, chips dialled in replies to some comments but also disappeared and nothing changed. There is no way that STW will back track now, especially with messages telling people to F off over Facebook. All this to try and generate a couple of quid in listing fees. But we get told traffic is up on the website...as users we would never know, but having had messages now from 4 subscribers plus myself saying they are not bothering to renew subscriptions they have lost more revenue then the new classifieds has generated in the last month. I am genuinely devastated at the demise of the forum, to the point the only reason I subscribe is to support it. The U.K. MTB scene will be poorer without it, sadly the classified issue is the cherry on top of a multitude of issues. None of which seem to change

Just reminded me to check...issue 122 still hasn’t landed on my door mat!

I’m genuinely not seeing any issues with the classifieds or the forum in general. Browse, post and list on an iPhone if that makes any difference. Must be very frustrating for those who are having issues though. Plus lack of communication must make it worse.

Posting photos on the new classifieds is a damned sight easier now. Browsing is a bit more of a ball ache, but not that bad. I’m also sure that people moaned about the old classifieds and wanted changes. When changes happen nobody likes them. Not surprising considering the age of the majority of posters though 😀

new classifieds is shocking - I was in the same boat - only see wanted, you really have to go around the houses to actually get to the for sale section

and not just that, its like a ghost town in there, theres no order to anything, nobody biting on decent bits of kit for sale, ive had more joy elsewhere since the change, I know its free, but It has always been a brilliant place for like minded folk to sell and buy decent bits without getting shafted by ebay scammers etc

I can see why they've done it monetary wise, but its awful as a user of the forum to use...the old for sale, worked so simply and so effective. RIP 🙁

I found the old classifieds light touch, easy to switch to and browse and generally fast. Now I don’t bother. Too many clicks, too much searching. Browsing the titles is what made it fun.

Ease of use trumps slickness every time. If I wanted pinkbike I’d use that instead. STW offered something different.
