My brother who is an avid mountain biker and who lives near some great trails is coming to visit in a couple days. I've been living around Bradford on Avon for just over a year and haven't gone mountain biking (very new to it). Can anybody give me some trail advice? One of my neighbours has told me about some great rides some near BAth Uni, but it's one of those things where the intention is there, but I've not been out with him yet...
Any and all help very much appreciated!

Bath Uni and Conkwell are good places to ride with a DH trail too. Good contacts to be had in the Folly Flyers:

A bit further from you is the Longleat estate, lots of trails in the woods there around centreparcs and shearwater lake, Some little jump runs too. Back canon is the local club.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply. I think I have seen the folly flyers congregating in Bathford a number of times on my way home from work. I will definitely start joining them.

As for the weekend, I got an OS map, went to some woods where there were rough tracks indicated (the white roads with dashed lines) and my brother and I stumbled across what all the local riders probably already know. There were amazing trails and we had a great day of riding. Can't wait for more now.

Just by chance I stumbled upon a good route from another forum member. It is a public ride so I hope the don't mind the link. It is a decent combination of the better trails within a mid length ride from Bradford on Avon IMO. Some might say to take the bridleway marked to the East of the Uni and descend Bathampton Woods and also take in the DH trails down Conkwell Woods at the end of the ride but I couldn't possibly recommend cheeky trails ๐Ÿ˜‰
