Hi

I remain cross curious - as they say....

In my wildest dreams I want a Cotic X built up with the shiniest finishing kit
However that will cost ££££ and isnt available any time soon so I remain sensible about it

In reality a crosser is a massive leap of faith which Id like to try before I buy

My LBS wont demo one
Actually they will demo a Tricross in their car park which is kind of not the same as tonking one down a BOAT

So it seems that before I spend a significant amount of cash the only way of seeing if I get the CX concept is to buy a second hand snotter and thrash it in a way that none of the local shops will let me

The problem is that crossing remains a minority interest and finding any for sale is tricky
Theres bugger all on fleabay, a few but not many on here but maybe theres a cross community online I havent found?

If so where do people flog s/h crossers?

I dont want a new shiny one
Just some old nail going for a song I can buy and ride a little to see if I get on with it before I blow the housekeeping on a Cotic x - if only Cy did extended demo rides on bikes he hasnt actually built, marketed and sold yet........ LOL

Cheers

There's almost always a couple for sale in the Comic classifieds.

There is an online community which is fairly embryonic by STW standards. Might be worth joining and asking if anyone has anything for sale.

Crap brakes, little grip, inability to hot a line over roots and rocks, position suited more to road than mtbing. Feeling out of control on anything remotely technical.

If the thought of the above sounds like fun then get one. If not, don't 🙂

I love mine. Turns what would be boring trails on an mtb to brilliant fun.

Not cheap, but I've been thinking that a 29er might be a good option, as I could also use it for xc racing. I did notice that Nick Craig used a flat bar on his cross bike to win the 3 peaks this year.

Didn't the women's winner also use flat bars?
