Heading up to centre parks in Penrith for my mums 60th in two weeks(as long as it doesn’t get cancelled). As it’s over 100miles for me to the lakes I was hoping to get a ride in on the way up and on the way home. The only rides I’m really familiar with near there are Helvellyn and ullswater singletrack. Presuming there’s going to be too much snow up Helvellyn, does anyone have any recommendations nearby?

Thanks

How long do you want to be riding for?

1/2 day at most. Maybe a shorter one on the last day. All weather dependant obviously

Park near brothers water. Head east to hayes water. Up the BW towards high st BUT hand a left and follow the FP to angle tarn. Keep heading north then pick up the BW and drop down into Bodedale to the east (clean this and you are going well), hang a left at Sandwick and follow the BW along Ullswater back to Patterdale and your car.

I like this route. Alot.

Borrowdale bash is reliable, all weather and easy access option. Start over walla crag to ashness bridge to reduce road riding. Keswick area nice to visit too.

Let's be honest, anything could happen with the weather, could be snow drifts in two weeks.
