Started off in Blackburn - happy days of horizontal rain and having my bike blown out of my hands while trying to crawl into Darwen Tower for shelter.
Meandered to Cambridge, which was ok. There was riding to be found if you looked for it, but it just wasn't the same as oop North.
Ended up in the bullet-dodging, bereft of mountains, economically bankrupt (literally) city of Detroit! No idea where the nearest mountain is, but lots of 'mini trail centre' type managed singletrack nearby, so I'm spoiled for that really. Lack of mountains and general gnarr still won't stop me ordering a Cotic Rocket though ๐
East Sussex - bloody hilly for the south!! Great riding right from the door. There's much more here than just the South Downs!!
Richmondshire, just one big hill away from Godzilla! Plenty of good routes on the doorstep, swaledale only a short drive away- Fremington edge, Gunnerside and Hurst all regular rides. Hamsterley is only half hour away too!
Between Cockermouth and Maryport in Cumbria.
10 minutes from Whinlatter, 20 minutes to Keswick. Quite lucky really...
Costa del Garnant, Sir Gaerfyrddin, De Gymru.
South West fringe of the Brecon Beacons, nice ๐
Marple, It's uphill to the Roman lakes for me though
Crumpsall, where else?
As far as I can see, so far I have the Quantocks to myself ๐
I live in The Seychelles, Just lots of sailing, snorkelling, kayaking for me
Bedfordshire
Not short of boring bridleways (better than Lancashire where I used to live), and then there's Woburn and Chicksands for tech.
essex lad landed in Munich, Germany.... it's alright. 45mins to the alps (just received another dumping of snow!!!). good beer. nice city/lifestyle. naked birds in summer along the river, which is nice....
roll on summer.... snow free trails and leisurely oogling on the way back from the beer garden...
If things go well I'm moving to Munich soon. Singlespeed friendly?
Right on the edge of the MOD land at Pirbright ranges. Riding carefully these days

Trails in and around town, especially Isar River would rock singlespeed.
Train out to Tegernsee or other valleys for more mountainous riding but most do able, if a bit sustained.
Tegernsee has the best post ride spot to wait for trains back to Munich too: http://www.braustuberl.de/
Ye Olde Durham. 10 Mins from Hamsterley ๐
24 years in the FOD. Last 18 years in Monmouth SE Wales, 4 miles from where I lived, so not moved far but it is another Country and County.
Another kendal-ite here...
I liked the Tegernsee when I cycled past it last year, route checking for work. Some good cafe experiences on that ride (Munich to Salzburg).
Glasgow bred, but living in central Sweden for the foreseeable future. Highest point in the Wales-size county is about 120m, but it's more than made up for by the techy, rocky terrain left by ice-age glaciers.
Halfway up a hill, Hope Valley, Peak District.
Sunny Brentwood Essex, by way of Durham, Lossiemouth and Middlesbrough.
Got some local stuff on the doorstep but DIY seems to be taking over MTB time....:(
Grown in Boroughbridge, moved down Somerset 18 years ago and enjoying the shockingly awful riding that's available on Mendip , quantocks and wherever else I can get to
Daaaarset. 1/4 hrs ride to the beach and the Purbecks. Generally speaking its pretty blooming good ๐
Falkirk(central scotland) ๐
Kilburn, Derbyshire; it's alright.
10 minutes (by bike) from Lee Quarry, 45 mins from Gisburn, 1.5 minutes from the natural trails, right on the Rossendale, Burnley and Calderdale borders at 1150ft above see level. Miles of trails in every direction and plenty of elevation. The only downside is nearly every ride ends up with an uphill section.
Cardrona Village, just past Glentress. One or two hills worth riding in ๐
Mansfield, has its downsides, its upsides (15 mins from Pines and huge areas of fairly flat XC trails) and its sideways bits..
Seascale, on the Cumbrian coast. 10mins pedal for Wasdale ๐
Cardiff, from Canada via Manchester.
You all know what the riding is like in these here parts.
Another yorkshire lad. Ripon to be precise.
Fritchley - not too far from Matlock. Some good riding from the door
Skegby, Notts. 1 min ride from the Teversal Trails, 30 mins ride from the Pines, 30mins drive to some good riding in Derbys - musn't grumble.
Spent 25yrs living on the coast in Yorkshire, had Dalby 25mins away and all of the North Yorks moors within an hr.
Now Live in Bristol, rains alot here though...
Bridle way from my garden direct to the South Downs ๐
Double post.
Rainworth, Notts. About 5 minutes ride from Sherwood Pines & less than an hours drive to the Peak District.
Although possibly moving to Mid Wales ๐
I'm from the only village in England to have both a zoo and a vineyard!! Not a great area for riding a bike though
About 2 miles from Hopton. Go there most weeks.
Schnor - would I have seen you out and about - eglwsygs perhaps? Give me a shout if your ever riding down this way!
The isle of wirral. ๐
Saltaire just out of Bradford.
Like BillOddie - in the middle of the precipitous region that is Charnwood, just north of Leicester.
To echo his sentiments, it really isn't as crap as you might think, but a few byelaws need to go by the wayside to ride most of the best bits. As with most areas, the further you go away from the posher bits, the more liberal the attitude to riding - why do people who have loads of dosh seem to be more miserable than everyone else????
I still bugger off to the Peak District at the first sniff off a pass from the missus, though.
CAS VEGAS
Otley. Chevin. Gisburn. Washburn. Rombalds. Dalby.
All good, just wish I was 30 yrs younger and a similar number of pounds lighter!
Base camp level, NW Alps
