I used to see them fairly frequently. Thinking about the crack-issue I've not seen one for years now.
Do they all live in a certain geographic area?!!!

The owner had had the same problem with 3 of them!
It was the older ones that cracked, the ones with 4.5" maximum travel and the round seat stays.
Edit: Like the one in the above pic...that's as old as the hills, it hasn't even got the machined bearing covers.
There's a lovely green one in my garage. I mustn't have ridden it enough to crack it yet!
