Totally ruined the spring clip on my brakes as the pad axle thingy wouldn' come out cleanly at the weekend, so i thought i could replace with a cotter pin?. Loads on ebay but what size would fit? Cheers for advice.

Do you meean the pin that screws into the caliper to retain the pads? If so you need a split pin. Best bet would be to go to Halfords with the knackered pin and get the right sized split pin.

SLX down come with split pins. Bit more faffy than unscrewing a bolt, but no biggie.

I had bag image of cotter pin hammered home into brake caliper lol
