I have currently a Maxxis Aspen on the rear 2,1 and a kenda sb8 2.1 on the front.
I did have a rocket Ron but that 'exploded off the rim' damaging the tyre.
Anyway, what's the fastest xc tyre, used for xc racing 4,6 12 hour enduros. should I go for a wider tyres such as 2.25 as I have heard they roll faster. True?
All this on my carbon hardtail with 120mm travel.
Thanks
I like Conti RaceKings. Very fast and the 2.2 is a good size.
I should of said. Does it have to be to have the lightest fastest tyre.
Is there any data to back this up.
depends on the course - if mountain mayhem turns to mud - 1.5 continental cross country's are rapid, if it stays hard then something like a furious fred or wormdrive.
Stans 'The Crow'....although technically its an innertube with a tread pattern drawn on it.

LOL. i was thinking crow.
semi slicks can be blistering fast if the course is dry enough - if not you can spend too much time sliding about. i've used wtb vulpines on the rear.
Furious Freds are little more than a patterned inner tube, but the Fast Fred has some tread and works well for me at Swinley in the drier days last March.
Furious is approx 310g for the (fat) 2.0".
Fast is approx 325g for the (fat) 2.0".
Kenda Klimax-Lite are too narrow at approx 1.5" inflated against their claim of 1.95".
Weight at 345g is OK.
Pinch-flat too easily.

whilst not an mtb tyre, i think that landcruisers i have on my cx have really good grip for a tyre that has a continuous smooth center pattern. They roll well, in general CX tyres seem fast rolling and grippy imo.
sb8, fast rolling for sure, but not really a tyre id want on the front if wet.
maybe some huge 2.4 racing ralph if dry, if wet then some cx tyre or a 1.8 nobby nic?
the big ones weigh almost a kg each ๐ฏlandcruisers
panaracer fire xc 1.95
a superb tyre.
Panaracer razor are pretty fast and on offer at evans at the moment
