Just called Merlin and they told me that I needed an M970, which seem to be more £££ than the other types.

Checking on the SantaCruz build options and it states an M971 will fit.

Thought the best bet was to ask on here before I order, what XTR front are you guys running?

I bought an XTR M971 dual pull today, have got it home but can't see how it's ever going to fit on my frame 😐

I have a M970 on my full suss and had an M971 on my hardtail, which I've now replaced with an old LX M580. (the original mech) The M971 was s**t tbh, kept on seizing up, no matter how much you try and keep it lubed/greased up. Send it back if you can and get an M970 or M770.

If its the same design rear as a Heckler it needs bottom swing, top pull I'd have though all mechs fitted as long as they were the correct swing

I went by the Q and A's from their website for Superlight frame:

"What size front dérailleur do I need?

A shimano 34.9 top swing/ top pull. Anything but saint should do the job"

Well, been trying to fit the M971 and cannee see how on earth it's ever going to go on....

The top clamp isn't able to go far enough up to clear the front rings, it only goes as far as the rear swing arm.

Has anyone actually got an M971 on their SL?

I can post picks if helps!

Arrrrggghhhh!!!!!!
