I'm upgrading the drivetrain of bike A from XT to SRAM GX eagle, but but ispec b shifters on XT brakes. I did plan on running the same brakes with a problem solver mismatch on this bike.

Bike B is an old frame that I'm building up with old parts to use as a child carrier / spare. So I obviously need some IPSec b brakes which I don't have. As they're Shimano and potentially will have to be sent back under warranty I'd be better buying new. New prices for compatible deore etc start at £90 or so.

The dilemma is do I get new brakes for bike A? And if so what? I have icetech 203 and 180 rotors on that I want to keep. Or is it just a case of getting different shifters and any old brakes? Lastly, get some 2nd hand Shimano?

Hmmmm

Fortunately my XT brakes have been fine.....so far.

Hope is an option (although very expensive)., and no, not purple!

Sram Guides to go with the Eagle, and move all the stars to the other bike?

I like the Shimanos personally, very easy to keep perfectly bled. Can't say I've ever had any issues. Even the cheaper SLX or Deore are workable.
