Currently running 650b gravel tyres on my Salsa Vaya and I’ve decided to run a second wheelset in 700c flavour. But need some advice as to a grippy wet weather tyre to run on the road only for those night time runs after I get the wife sorted following her recent spinal procedure.

The Conti Grand Prix GT.   One of those "invisible" tyres hence always cheap yet as fast as a 4000 II but more grip and puncture protection.

I've not done many rides outdoors since fitting them about a month ago, but so far loving the confidence of riding Conti 4 Seasons.

There are no grippy winter road tyres.  There's just varying levels of slippy with gatorskins being like oil on ice.

This year, when it gets really cold and wet, I'll be commuting on either my 29+ or my Yeti with 2.35 g-one speeds.

I've recently bought some tubeless Giant tyres from my LBS. These ones are 700c 25mm, and come up to a bit over 23mm on my rims.

They're black, round, relatively thick compared to G-ones (so hopefully will last a bit longer) and seem pretty grippy. Being tubeless you can obviously drop the pressure if they're not grippy enough.

And much cheaper than Schwalbe G-ones.

How is the longevity of the g one speed tyres , I think I read on another tread they didn’t last long ?

The one on the rear of my commuter probably didn't manage even 1000 miles before being just too floppy to stay inflated without burping. The one on the front is still going strong.

I started a similar thread a couple of weeks ago. These were highly rated so I bought some, albeit 25 not 28. Seem very good. I'm just back from a 50 mile ride in crap weather. Plenty of grip on roads covered in water and general detritus. Roll well with no apparent drag. So far so good.

These are where I got mine. They were the cheapest I could find, although they seem to have gone up a couple of ££ since.

If you want tubeless you need to look for the "2Bliss" version of those Specialized tyres.

Edit: beat me to it!
