[#10366813]

I have jumped on the epic GRRRRRRavel Adventure bandwagon and bought a Vitus Energie. This has nice WTB 23mm tubeless rims and Cross Boss tubeless tyres on it but comes with tubes in.

Obv I want to get the tubes out and put some sealant in but how on god's earth do you get the tyre off the rim? I've had a quick google and found several threads on here and just cannot get the ****er off no matter how much I stand on it and pull. I'm guessing I'm doing it wrong but am not very good at turning words into actions. Can anyone explain it to a simpleton or link to a pic pls?

I'm glad I have found this out in a warm kitchen rather than trailside 20 miles from home or the car .

Wiggle you tight barstewards send them out tubeless rather than with tubes in!

(BIke is pretty marvellous otherwise)

Impressive isn’t it! Think I tried every trick in the book (big levers - useless as you can’t actually get a gap, blocks of wood, standing on the tyre, etc). The only way I could find to get them off was a wide screwdriver between tyre bead and side of rim, then turn the screwdriver to push the tyre into the well of the rim.

Of course this does wonders for your rim tape 🙄

Yup I just had the same battle with a Wirebead Comp Trail Boss on a WTB i29 rim. It was almost like the bugger was glued on!

Much swearing and sweating involved. Once the bead does give the rest of the tyre came off slowly.

The tyres in the bin now and a new Magic Mary has replaced it, and now tubeless.
