OK, I have a 3l camelback original bladder. It's about a year old and I am a good boy who washes it out every ride and keeps it in the freezer.
It has recently 'grown' a smeggy covering on the inside which I can't get rid off! It's white, and you can scrape it off with your nails and it's like putty.
I've Miltoned it.
Very hot water.
Bleach.
Dried it.
I can't get rid. Has anyone got any ideas. It doesn't make the bladder taste bad but the water is milky if you leave it in there.
Is it time to burn it and buy a new one? I've never had one go bad - ever. So this is a new experience for me.
I had this happen with a bladder before. I carried on using it as I figured I'd cleaned & sterilised it as much as I could. Used it like that for about a year until the bladder split but never had any issue with taste or illness.
Hth
limescale???
material breaking down in some way?

housemate burst his blow up doll and got desperate? 😀
As tang says, it sounds like limescale to me. I think I would have bought a new one before resorting to putting bleach in a drinks bladder, but now you've gone to so much effort you may as well keep it. Or you could just scrape all of it off and see if it comes back? 😀
Right. I'll parazone it and see what happens. It really is horrible.
Really? Lot of effort / risk for a £25 item. Stop being tight and buy a new one!
