[Closed] What sub £100 light for 1hr off road riding

I need a light for midweek 1hr cyclocross training rides in the local woods.

It doesn't have to be daylight bright, or last longer than 75 mins on a single charge.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ian

You can have four of these with change to spare. I have one on my helmet but it also comes with a bar mount.

Looks interesting, thank you. Do you find that is bright enough on it's own or does it supplement another light for off-road riding?

P7, from the likes of Trailblaze on eBay. Light, bracket, battery and charger for around £50. More than bright enough and lasts more than an hour.

Great light for the money, more then enough for MTB night rides, 2 modes on brightness and couple of hours run time - and available from the UK warehouse for a few quid more if you don't want to wait:

If you want a better battery, more power and the ability to flick up and down through power while you are riding, this looks good (but sounds overkill for what you want)

That one looks good too - just check the note at the top of the listing (I fell for this recently and waited ages for something I wanted from another seller)

This seller is currently away until 27 January 2012

I have the 20 quid one I linked to on my helmet, it does give more of a spotlight throw. The same seller I linked to does the larger one that is seen all over the place from magicshine, etc. One of those on the bars for near-middle distance flood and the spot on the lid works wonders in a pitch black forest. 🙂

Oh, and while there is the usual UK location but Hong Kong address on the advert my lights arrived in a couple of days posted within the UK. the Euro plugs are a bit of a faff but I had a euro adaptor included in the box.

I'd recommend a P7 torch used as a helmet light as being more than adequate and you probably won't have to spend £100.

But avoid Torchythetorchman on eBay. Might have decent feedback on there but my experience is of being supplied faulty goods then getting no response when seeking redress.

The torch developed its random turning-itself-off behaviour after I'd left him good feedback, basically, for fast delivery, so it seems he thought there was no need to respond to any emails asking for a refund or replacement.

I just received one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SSC-P7-HeadLamp-LED-Bicycle-Bike-HeadLight-Light-1200Lm-UK-SELLER-/260894102697?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item3cbe8014a9#ht_3492wt_882

though from a different seller and for less money. they're out now though it seems.

Beam pattern appears to be nice from an office check, and it's as bright as my magicshine 900 lumen job, so I'm happy. It appears nicely made too, though yet to disect in detail....

+1 for MagicShine. Another UK site here: http://www.MagicShineNI.com

I'm hearing quite a few stories of people shelling out £150-200+ on lights from the big brands and being completely disappointed. Personal preference I guess.

I've got three hours from it while riding and it was still giving out decent light at the end. Certainly good enough for non-techical riding and packing the bike back in the car, etc.

Get a smudge light and spend the rest on one of the recommended torches as a helmet light
