I'm going to take the plunge an convert my very old Marin Bear Valley to SS. Going to mainly be on the road and dirt tracks what size cogs would you recommend? Oh it's pretty hilly in Swansea.

32-16 is the normal but I have just gone 34-17 the reason is I feel bigger cogs seem to roll better and the chain has a greater contact so less wear, also to go to a 18 at the back is not such a big jump
btw Constitution hill on a single speed well I would like to see that

C Hill its bad enough walking up that one.
I'm almost setting up from scratch - the bike hasn't been touched for about 10 years just thought I'd get it out of retirement and put to good use.
