how many bearings are thy meant to have in the uturn cup at the top?

Mine had three but there is space and holes for many many more.

Another question, best place to get lower weight springs? i'm only just achieving 10% sag on mine ๐Ÿ™

3 balls is what it should have.

If you have the standard sping in it is a medium which means its a soft spring you want. Post a wanted ad on the forum.

on both ones i owned, there were three bearings under the u-turn cap.

as for springs, tf tuned shox or put an ad on here. If they were second hand it would be worth finding out what weight spring is already in there first!

thanks for the info. The forks were bought new so it would have the medium spring. I weigh just under 11 stone, so would the soft spring be suitable? Or am i just having issues with my firm spring.

Are you judging the sag with full riding weight? clothes, water, tools (if you carry any) 11 stone should be fine for the medium spring. A lot of people rate the medium spring as too soft.

I am, yes. Without riding gear i can barely make the fork sag at all.
