Whatever pressure gives you the sag you want.
Yep, waste of time using someone elses pressure. Everyone is different and every set-up is different. Set the amount of sag recommneded by Orange.... 🙂
Orange just refers to Fox website - I thought frame design had an influence on this rather than just the shock?
It does, a bit, but it would be easier to set it up to give a sag of between a 1/4 (firmer, more XC setting) to a 1/3 (plusher, more freeride setting) of its full travel when you sit on the bike.
Do you not sit on bike, see where the rubber ring is on the shock shaft when you get off it. If it is less than 25% along the shaft, remove a few psi and if it is over add psi? Then fine tune from there. So that you get full compression occassionally in a ride.
Or something along those lines
All comes down to personal feel at the end of the day and where you ride.
Same as to where you set the rebound and which of the 3 Pro-Pedal settings you set it to.
i`ve got 170 psi in mine at around 190lbs with backpack .
The difficult bit is choosing a sag - 25 to 33% as discussed earlier.
The easy way to get the right pressure once you have a sag is over pressure the shock, move the ring to where you want the sag , then sit on it with the pump still attached and use the release button on the pump to release the excess air, easing the shock back to where the rubber ring is.
Get off the bike and note the pressure on the pump's gauge - play with the setting once you've ridden it for a few hours round a trail you know.
Easier still if a friend releases the excess air.
it depends on how fat you are
