The feelings you get from nearly crashing/sketchy moments, or when on those rare occasions you do actually feel that your in control of your bike and also all those lazy fat pie eating smoking people we see all around these days getting a taxi to the shops at the end of the road!

cos i love it and everything to do with it.
cos i love to meet new friends through it.
cos i love to travel to new places i aint never been.
cos no matter how bad your life/mood gets, a ride out with good mates WILL make your life seem/feel better.

I've yet to come across a convincing reason not to ride a bike

For me.. it's a lot to do with chasing those moments where you feel like this...

Yes to all of those photos. And a touch of OCD perhaps when it comes to the road riding.

cos rolling down a hill with your legs stuck out to the sides shouting "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe" like a kid is better than sitting on a sofa fast forwarding through 8 minutes of adverts in a show you know you shouldn't really be watching if you want to slow down brain-rot.

Its fun.

If i stop enjoying it i'll move onto something else....nobody holds a gun to my head and tells me to ride....same advice i'd give to anybody else, once it stops being fun move on.

I have a passing interest in Squash, Kickboxing, Motorcycles, Fishing, Golf, Rugby....if mountain biking gets a bit samey then i have a break for a while....people with only one interest either become good enough to make a living from it (rare) or simply become bores (much more likely).

Big Skies, mud, silence, adrenalin rush, heart pounding uphills, scary eyes in the darkness night riding, dust, views, scenery, camaraderie, gadgets, shiny shiny parts, boingy bits, twisty bits. Never growing up, but most of all, stopping on a ride, and realizing all of the above still does it for me.

I love being outdoors, the technical aspect, speed, getting to fettle with bikes etc. Also like having goals with cycling ie a race, long distance ride etc. Finally nothing better than riding with mates and having a good crack!

I've stopped trying to work out why, and just go with it.

It's an inherent part of me.

My Genesis Altitude. I think It is the first bike I have had that actually fits me properly. I just want to ride it all the time.

Did a night ride last night and got in at 2.00AM. Might do it again tonight. Ace!

It's about the trails, sky, people, beer, adrenaline, how it makes you feel, not crashing, friends, beer, cake, coffee, beer, cake, bikes, events, countryside, cake, beer and coffee!

It makes you feel good too!

And don't forget the bikes, the lights and that time tinkering in the beer with coffee and or beer and a nice new shiney bit or a much loved old less shiney but well used bit.

So self indulgence really.

Unfortunately I was recently abducted and my captors make me wash their clothes in one of those bicycle washing machines.

They've threatened to chop my feet off if I stop pedalling.

for fun.
to escape.
because nothing else matters when you're on a bike apart from the next corner, the next hill, the next jump, the headwind, the tailwind, the sound of your tyres, what gear your in or not in, your heart beating in your head, your wheezing lungs, the wind in your ears.
because it feels natural to be on a bike.

I need inspiration.
I'd rather not ride at all than have to go looking for inspiration from an internet forum
seriously, it's not the end of the world if you don't ride a bike for a bit.
unless you're suffering from mental health issues, just ride because you actually want to, not because you feel you should.

Soooo many reasons, if I tried to catalogue them all my head would explode. Just a few, for fun, to get me places, for fitness, to scare me, to exhilarate me, to make me grin so much the top of my head is in danger of falling off, for drunken falling about night rides, to turn me into a gibbering wreck who falls through the front door unable to move.

Coz bikes are ace.

Did a night ride last night and got in at 2.00AM.
Last time I tried a late night ride I got a phone call at 12:30 saying "WTF are you? get home!"
