[Closed] What Indoor Trainer App?

Afternoon, after a lockdown and a half of using a 'dumb' turbo trainer watching CTX videos I have a 'smart' Tacx Flux due for delivery.

What apps can anyone suggest to provide some training and scenery?

I'm not interested in virtual racing (Zwift) but would like to simulate outdoor rides with the Tacx controlled by the app plus some structured training sessions. Auto upload of data to Garmin Connect is required (not on Strava). I currently use a Garmin 520 or a Forerunner 245 Music if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Try a Rouvy free trial. Thousands of climbs and non-climbs all over the world, famous and otherwise, linked to your trainer for resistance. This was my choice for virtual riding without racing, I only cancelled it because my mate was racing on Zwift and I didn't want two subs.

Thanks, I'll check Rouvy out.

Rouvy is great. Think they've got something like 125,000 miles of video routes on there, including lots of UK ones and all the classics from elsewhere.

We use FulGaz for the same reason as not wanting races. They have really improved the interface in the last year. We really like it. You can get a free trial of that too I think. Sounds very similar to Rouvy but I’ve never tried that.

Do the free trials and see which you like.

I liked fulgaz a lot, tonnes to choose from.

Had connectivity issues with rouvy and started my trial at a bad time so didn't get round to troubleshooting.

Big ring VR is same sort of deal, hd videos of famous roads, not tried it yet.

RGT cycling is free, a bit like zwift lite I guess. You have a avatar cyclist and there are other people on the course so you get someone to chase down occasionally which is good for pushing yourself a bit more. Limited number of routes etc and it's all computer generated rather than filmed. worth a blast from time to time though.

Thanks for the suggestions all, it does seem to be a general issue getting data to upload automatically to Garmin without going via Strava, even the Tacx app doesn't upload direct. I have seen a suggestion to record the ride separately via a compatible watch so I could use the Fr245 to do that.

Fulgaz looks good, I'll try a few free trials once the kit arrives.
