Older EC70 has 25mm, Thomson has about 16mm, Newer EC70 has 10mm, I believe.

Yep, Aidy's spot on. The new EC70s look horrible too, try and track down an old one!

Well that rather depends surely? If he's got very long femurs he's better off with more layback and the post in the middle of the rails, rather than pushing it all the way back on a post with less layback.

What do the length of his femurs have to do with anything? Why should that mean he needs his saddle futher back than the designer intended?
