Help !!!!! Due to an ongoing back problem I am looking to swap my beloved 456 frame for a full sus frame. I really like the 456 and it suits my style perfectly. What recomendations would you give for a full sus frame with similar abilities.
I like long xc rides and short sharp blasts. All my rides involve jumps drops and very ragged corners. It needs to pedal well and handle like a demon. I like the look of the BMC trail fox and feel that a four inch frame matched to my 120 - 160 forks could be the way to go. what do you think?

Something with a relatively long top tube then.

Orange Five could be a good bet. Handle great and very versatile.

I'd have said a five too.

Bike for all occasions.

What size is the 456 and how much do you want for it?

Pitch maybe? Long TT, slackish head angle, so it might fit the bill. Trek Fuel is worth a look if you don't want quite so much travel.

I have just gone from 456 carbon to a Yeti 575. Reason I say is that I HAD to change as I broke my neck in 2003 (C4/C5 level) and the 456 used to cripple me the day after a 1hr ride. I did 3 hours round Cannock last weekend with no probs the next day.

Choose a plush upright frame if poss.

I've just replaced my nicked 456 with a Whyte T120 S and I have to say it is very good. The geometry is very 456-like, long, slack and low but pedals way better than the Five that I tried. Not sure how it would work though with a longer fork, but I haven't missed the 140mm forks on the 456.

mmmm, lots of suggestions. I have seen and like the look of the Mondraker foxy. Anyone got one ? whats it like.
cheers for all the responses.
I have been riding for about 20 years now and want this bike to be a "keeper" unlike a few expensive mistakes in the past.......
I guess ultimatley I need to take a few test rides.

I just bought a pitch to replace/supplement my 456 so that's my decision,

Whether or not its the right one is yet to be seen but I'm looking foreward to it!

Look at the new Canyons, German quality and service !, as good as a 5, far far far far better specd than a 5, half the price of a 5......and most importantly "its not another 5!!!" ๐Ÿ˜†

The pitch shock is not that active so it pedals well for a 6 inch bike and it handles like a demon. ๐Ÿ˜€
Plus the shock can be almost locked out.

had a couple of hour ride on a Mondraker Foxy - Geometry sounds spot on for what you want (long, low, slack) fitted me really well, nice bike, only thing that put me off was no local dealer, also not so sure how all those linkages would hold up?

Sounds like you can't afford a five ๐Ÿ˜†

I am really keen to get something long , low and slack but with a steep seat angle as this is the only critisism I have of the 456. The Foxy has my full attention at the moment.....
I will keep you posted. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Isn't there a Ragley of sorts to match your requirements?
