Morning all,
In the market for a new frame/bike. Looking at On One Scandal frame then building it up with xt, hope hoops, 129mm forks, hayes stroker trail brakes and thomson/easton finishing kit, an one 456 with xt and fox floats direct frm on one or a Ragley mmmbop with same build as scandal. Bike will be a 2nd bike and used for he odd commute, xc rides and trail centre stuff.
Any opinions would be apprecited.
I was under the impression the scandal was a designed for pure XC, so though it should definitely fulfil your light weight requirement, I'm not sure it would handle 130mm forks well, as the site even specifies that they should be run "100mm MAX" (and from comments on here).
DN6 456's are not light weight, though neither are they bad bikes, though the Carbon version is the same weight as the scandal, so might be an option?
no idea about the ragley...
Does it have to be new? Any number of decent ali frame's from the more main stream manufacturers, can be sourced secondhand for not a lot of money
And how much do you want to spend on the frame, and have you already the components (especially the fork)?
If none, then probably better buying a complete bike.
The ragley is light, strong and perfect for trail centres, but requires a bit more skill and patience to ride quickly through tight backwoods stuff in my experience. A right hoot going downwards. I've got a mint 20" frame that I've got to sell some time soon - if you're interested drop me an email.
How would a Pipedream Sirius fit the bill? Mine runs a Recon 85-120 fork and is awesome.

For out and out XC duties I have an Orbea Alma and for general looning around the Pipedream. Setting the fork at 85-100mm gives a quick turning XC bike open the fork up to 120 and it'll keep me happy on the decents. Climbs pretty well too, just done a run and kept it in big ring for 2.5 hours and 1000m of climbing. You could do worse.
