hopefully got a 'D' built version of the chameleon coming. i'm looking to swap out the fork, (and sell on as new 120 recon boost)
whats everyone using, i can get hold of a boost 130 or 140 27.5 pike for £450 or a 140 yari £315 .
also seen a fox float34 performance 130mm £430
from reading up i'm assuming all the 27.5 boost forks only accept a 2.8 wide tyre, the 29er forks take the 3.0" tyre but then the prices go up considerably,
so i;m gonna have to swap out the 3.0 tyres to 2.6-2.8. whats recpmmendations for 27+ tyres, preferably £30-40 ish and tubeless compatible.

also anyone know if the race face Ride bars and stem (35mm) are unique to this bike, doesnt seem to be an aftermarket on the ride 35mm

thanks tish, looks a decent fork for the money, didnt think to check the german sites, had some great deals in the past on rose and bike-de, but that was when the pound was a lot stronger,
I've got a similar HT and run Pikes. Fantastic fork. I personally wouldn't opt for anything with smaller stantions.It just inspires confidence being able to stick it into any corner and follower the line round or work your way through a rocky trail. Especially important on a HT I feel. I can definitely feel the difference over a 32mm stantion. Pikes has got the better dampers, more adjustability and lighter. I picked up new Pike RCT3s for £375 a while back, so you might get lucky.
I think you're right.. the 'Ride' model is mainly XC based so appear to be 31.8 only. What stem is in the spec? 'Ride' tends to be longer stems.
Either way, enjoy the bike! I've been v. tempted by them. Geometry looks great as an all rounder, the dropouts are a nice touch and the price is pretty reasonable.
yeah I'm thinking a beefier fork, the recon on it looks far too skinny.
the spec says RF Ride 35 bar 760mm, and 35mm stem with 50mm length.
Must be OEM then. Wonder why they used that? Maybe it's re-branded 'Chester' stuff.
i run a 120 yari. longer will be fine, and will probably help the bb height a bit. i'd be happy with a 140 on there, but i'm not concerned with the 120s. bear in mind I used to run 150 sektors on my 26er chameleon. i don't really notice the added stiffness TBH. probably makes more difference the longer they get.
you want 29er boost forks IMO. if only so you don't close the door on fitting 29er wheels later if you get curious. it was always my plan to get two sets of wheels for this bike just to conduct the experiment.
don't skimp on tyres, they're the whole USP of +. you'll regret it and end up buying proper ones pretty quickly. if you're determined to save some money i've got some WTBs i used for about 120km i can let go for a good price.
Guy seems to rate the SC Chameleon highly along with the Fox 34 Rythmn's.
I bought a pair of the 130mm from Germany and they arrived yesterday. They are incredible for the money, alas due to a mental reshuffle Ive decided a different frame with a shorter travel fork is in my future.
Ill almost certainly be selling/returning them. If your'e interested drop me a pm/email.

Running 29er 130mm 2018 Revelations on mine in B+ mode.. maybe not quite as sensitive as the Pikes but 35mm stanchions now and not badly priced. Would be interested to try the Fox Rhythms though...
I was thinking of using a X-Fusion McQueen on a Chameleon build. Highy adjustable and well spec'd for the money.
Seem to workwell enough for Oli Wilkins..

Have a 29" , 130 mm travel and a 27.5" 150 mm travel fork of those Float Rhythms.
RRP is around 0.6 k or more? The 130 mm fork at bike-components was less than 0.2 k end of last year ...
If bike-components still has them ...
I'm ordering the Fox 34s and buying a D plus build - the forks were the only part of the spec that differs significantly (can take or leave a dropper to be honest, will probably try one someday), and as I can get 8% off with Evans (throguh work) this works out pretty economic - if I built from a frame I think I'm not saving anything and would be tempted to keep point upgrading and it ending up costing more than I'd like.

crc have the brand x dropper for 99 quid at the mo ( or did ). get one. the chameleon deserves one and you'll understand when you've had one for a short while.
Swimming against the tide, I'm toying with building one up rigid, the kinesis max light forks are plenty long enough so shouldn't upset the handling
I put those X-Fusion McQueen forks on mine. I just got the cheaper RL2 model as I was on a budget. They seem nicely built and no complaints so far. 120mm seems fine to me even on the rougher off piste trails of the tweed valley. The bottom bracket is pretty low so it might help that a little with a longer fork although the seat angle is relatively slack so climbing might suffer a little. If it was myself I'd probably just get those cheap fox 34s. I doubt most people would notice the difference of a posher fork anyway.

Will be sticking my Pikes on once I’ve serviced them. They aren’t as smooth as the Foxs but they are slightly stiffer and better for jumping off stuff.
Yeah I’ve ordered the fox34s £190 is too hard to resist will use diff on some new brakes as SRAM level aren’t for me , that said, plumbers been today, plasterer tomorrow and Friday and car mot on Friday too and a trip to Belfast next week,
