Did 91 miles today on my Uncle John,90% off road.

Came across the holy grale of narrowboats 8)

Where was that? Cycled Bristol to Reading on the towpath on Thursday, would have killed for that when I blew up!

It was at Branstone,just after burton on trent.

Trent and Mersey canal.

fourbanger i presume you cycled the kennet and avon canal? what it the towpath like from pewsey onwards (i imagine quite overgrown compared to devizes/bath.) p.s that barge is fantastic (all barges should have a stock of sweets/chocolates e.t.c for sale 🙂

Raceface its not overgrown just is not hard surface/mud and grass.Fine past Pewsey/bumpy past wotton rivers by tunnel by A338.Bit overgrown after Little Bedwyn in summer and narrow.Flat fields across Hungerford marsh.Hard surface by Kintbury.Only done it upto Newbury.Done it many times Bike and canal boat.

racefaceec90, I was on the tourer so I followed Sustrans 4 which went on the back roads from Devizes to Kintbury. I've done that section before and it's fine for an MTB, as dobiejessmo says really. Nice ride.

that is simply awesome, apart form the fact my ride would end right there 🙂

it could only be beaten by a narrow boat selling cake
