[Closed] Quick external bottom bracket compatibility Q - MTB bb with a road chainset.
I tried googling that one but with no luck.
I've got a spare external XT bb, can I use it with a Shimano HTII road chainset on my road bike or are the road HTII bb different from the MTB ones?

I'm using an xt BB on ultegra cranks on my cx, they will indeed fit.
From what i can see they are the same? maybe not internally but i cant tell.

oh one thing that might be different is that the threads on the xt might be longer as you would normally use spacers on an mtb but you wouldnt use the spacers on the road bike
Road BB's are narrower, but it could work ok even though its not supposed to
which part of the road BB is narrower? the spline seems to reach the correct position and the cap screws in fine.
If it's any use as a guide, Hope use the same cups for both, with only two thin spacers, 1mm I think,and a narrower sleeve for road chainsets.
