Was thinking about heading to Chamonix for a week to ten days over the Jubilee Bank holidays, with my one remaining bike and a tent, and riding it on trails where I really have no business being on a hardtail...

Plenty of good flowy trails accessible by tarmac below the treeline, at the bottom end of the valley, so the early timing shouldn't be a problem. Some even have marked bouldering routes on the way so can shove a pair of rock boots in my riding bag...

I'm also going to take climbing gear and just see what happens, who's in town, what's the worst that can happen. Winter rooms only though. 10 days should be enough to do some good riding and climbing. Some of those couloirs on the Tacul look immense, Tour Ronde, who knows. Early timing could be either a help or a hindrance depending...will beat the crowds anyway.

What are others' plans? Alpujarras/Finale Ligure/Scotland?

I've been roped into doing the "Kidderminster Killer" road route, 200km including Long Mynd twice. I am going to die.

Cool, some proper plans then

Really like the idea of just heading to CHX for a week with a suitcase full of bike and climbing gear and a tent and seeing what happens

Jubilee morning - decent ride, afternoon - street party. Last year's (royal wedding street party) went on until 1am ! Surprising number of republicans toasting the [s]happy couple[/s] day off.
Hoping for good weather.
