[Closed] £900 burning a hole in my pocket

Looking for a bit of buying advice, I've got a little pile of money set aside that I'd like to turn into a new hardtail. I want to get a complete bike rather than a self build and I want a bike that's well suited good for cross country and all day riding so something on the lighter and nippier side. So £900 for a good all rounder.
My local bike shop has a 2010 orange crush reduced to £900? Other than that I could really do with some suggestions for what bike would suit my budget. Any ideas?

A crush is nearer the burlier end of things than the nippier end

Seriously, don't buy the crush. I've ridden two of them and hated them. Overly stiff, heavy and just a bit rubbish. But that's all in my opinion of course.

Something by cube? Or Canyon? Or how about an on-one inbred? It's the only frame I'll hold on to - fits me really well and rides lovely. Complete bikes should be in your price range

So I've heard. Would a P7 be a better bet?

For £900 I probably wouldn't buy an Orange (and I own one so I'm not a haterz).

Cotic BFe £300 for frame and add some nice second hand bits should get a lovely bike.

Im sure you could do it for £900.

p.s. i know you dont want self build but it will get you the bike you want.

Get an Orange Pure 7. I've just got one and its bloody great!

Cycle surgery have got them discounted here

But leisure lakes have really gone mad on the discounts. This deal will take some beating mahooooooosive discount-tastic!!!!!

Or on another steel, keeping it real note, hows about a kona blink. That looks like a pretty good deal

If that Whyte rides anything like a Whyte 19 it will be a fantastic bike.

Lovely stuff, I didn't think the Crush seemed right for me. I'll check some of these out, thanks for the suggestions. Liking the look (and the price)of the Cube LTD, it's described as a "touring hardtail", sorry if I sound completely naive but would this mean that it's particularly good for longer rides?

Crikey, thats the same price more or less as the XT kit I was going to splash all over my genesis altitude.

I know I was very tempted to buy one & split just for the forks, they are all XT & SLX kitted out & with a decent wheelset too

I've already got a set of American classics to go on the [s]Kona[/s] Genesis, leaving the spare set for a pub bike.

It'd love those.

Tobys dad

Not sure if you have got a new bike yet, but I have a Whyte 19C Hardtail that I need to sell. Medium sized frame. Cracking ride, but I have to clear some space in the stable !

It's the 2009 model (got it late 2009) and the full carbon monocoque frame in very good condition, with just some scuff marks that you would expect.

Currently built up with Fox F100X Terralogic forks, Mavic Crossmax SL wheels, FSA Afterburner BB30, Avid Juicy 3 brakes, ritchey finishing kit and Shimano Deore gears.

Frame alone retailed for £1200, so I am looking for £850 for the bike or can sell the frame separately for £450. Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers

I'm going to do the same as I said on another thread. 240 quid Singular Hummingbird frame and 2nd hand or sale parts to do the rest of the build. You won't regret it.
