I need to get a new headset for my Swoop 170 2017 and thoughts have turned to slackening the head angle.
It already has already has flip chip but when it's in the lowest setting I find I get pedal strikes too much.
Would getting an angleset to slacken the head angle by 1 or 1.5 be the way to go or would I get the same issue?
Also recommendations for said headset would be appreciated and/or real world experience of doing a similar thing!
I used to have that model and experienced the same thing, so I ran it in the middle setting most of the time. I think an angleset would just lower the BB again.
I now have the 29er version, which also really low in the BB - and I've addressed it by:
- Having a longer travel fork (190mm on my current bike, but you may be able to just swap your airshaft to go to 180mm?)
- Getting 165mm cranks (I have stumpy legs anyway so there's no downside to this for me)
- Fitting a coil shock which gives more support (bit extreme I know, but it's improved the ride too)
