I've entered this on a bit of a whim which will hopefully get me back out on my mountain bike in preparation. Don't really know much about the type of riding involved so wondered if anyone has done it before or knows anything about it? Also wondered if anyone else has signed up?
cheers ๐
Entries sold out pretty quick when they went live at beginning of month. I think this will be the 3rd year of running (maybe 4th?) and it's built a good reputation. Mostly woodsy singletrack and forest fire roads, pretty relentless up and down with little time for recovery, could be gruelling if too wet. Hopefully the organisers won't have too many problems caused by harvesting of diseased larch.
I've only ever heard good comments about the event 8)
cheers psling, have you done it before? I wonder how technical are the trails? Also are you able to ride in the area before the event?
I ride around Wentwood regularly. We ride some very steep DH tracks, but there not used in the enduro. Most of the single track is fast flowing and slightly rough. It's always wet up there and when it rains its very muddy.
The climbs on the enduro are tough in the mud and if you do the full 50km you'll you'll certainly feel it
cheers Rhys, I might have to venture up there over Christmas
Sorry to piss on your parade but it's now sold out
"Wentwood 50km Mountain Bike Enduro, Sunday 10th March 2013
ENTRY IS NOW CLOSED
The event was limited to only 400 riders (a condition of the private landowners) and all registration vacancies have now been filled. If you didn't manage to register in time, rotten luck, but we hope you'll join us in for the 2014 event.
Please note that we're not able to accept any on-the-day entries since the 400 limit must be strictly enforced due to landowner agreements and insurance limitations. I trust you'll understand. "

It's ok, I've already entered:
I've entered this on a bit of a whim
Ah I can see that now! I've entered too after hearing all the good reports about it. Apparently tough in the mud with lots of singletrack steep ups and downs.
did this the first year and last year,
last year came into it really fit and raced it (although like all enduro events "it's not a race")
a few guys cheated and ended up finishing in front of me, which pissed me off, so was in no hurry to enter it this year,
it's a good course, not worth going back every year tho, glad it filled up as i can now find something else to do, lol
