righty, managed to put a sort of nail type size hole in a ust tyre, its not a gaping hole as such, but is wide enough to fit a nail in etc...

ive got a weldtite tubeless outside kit, from what i gather i cut half of a strip and simply thread it into the hole then pull the tool out slowly leaving the strip inside the hole right?

im then left with some squidgy bits sticking out of the tyre, and i cut them down roughly the same legnth as the tread?

is that it?

its kinda sticky and gooey and when i cut off the excess it sort of turned gooey and looked like dog poo smeared on the tyre 😆

have i done it right? it pumped up ok, and it appeared to not piss out like before (ps sealant didnt appear to seal it properly 🙁 )

put some more stans in to make sure, but im worried this brown gooey turd wont hold or will just push through onto in the inside?

sorry for the terrible read, never used one before 🙁

Nope, their great and will out last your tread. Have several on my tyres which have been in place for ages. Sealent will booger up on it inside your tyre over time. I think this kit is the nuts for price and simplicity as its a simple trail side fix, easier than putting in a tube.

you don't thread it in as such. it should be doubled up in the hole eg there'll be a loop inside the tyre if done right. I've found them brilliant. They do look a bit messy/gooey though

Just tried one tonight. A bit messy, but definitely works. I just followed the instructions.

cool yep i poked it through not threaded it, i had the tyre half off, and on the inside theres a sort of loop if you call it that...was more concerned it had gone off or something as when i tried to cut the excess off it just sort of turned gooey and didnt cut straight, as i said it now looks like a stuck on blob of dog poo, guessing i was right in cutting it the same length as the tread on tyre though?

it certainly appeared to hold the air instantly as before the sealant wouldnt quite do it, now i cant see/hear it pissing out any air, but im a bit skeptical having not used a kit before!

certainly hope it works!

i found the strips utter shite in hindsight, popped out again in no time....since used a proper UST patches on the one time i did this and it stayed sealed and fine on my xking ust for the remaining 4 months i used it

have you used a decent length of strip and not been stingy? Cant see how they can pop out unless your hole is massive? Mine was a tight fit and was a tough job getting them in, with a decent length inside the tyre.

They are a great trail side fix that ultimately will fail.
I also shudder at making a thorn sized hole into a great big one.

the sealant will take care of thorn sized punctures. Only need the tubeless repair for larger holes IME anyway

got a link? only ones i've seen on ebay are a car type ie: 5mm diameter. i think the weldtite kit ones are much narrower
