[#10079039]

This dreadful weather continues day after day bringing awful sunshine and dry trails.

I'm planning a ride from Gradbach (southern peak District) tomorrow evening, the pace will be relaxed 😃

Where you all off to?

Step one - get the large ninja deathstar on my road bike replaced with something known as a chainring 🙂

Step two - go for a ride.

What the hell do you do on an afternoon as hot as this with virtually no wind...

Relatively slow ride on the road bike, or relatively moderate paced ride on the fatbike?

Part way through getting changed and I still cannot make my mind up!

It almost makes a trail centre in the deep dark woods quite appealing.

Did six hours yesterday, which was fairly debilitating.

Will try to get to the Lakes on Sunday, but an early start will be essential.

A long overdue revisit to the Golfie trails on Saturday with the GF.

Meeting some mates at Dalbeatie on the Sunday.

Not been to either location in a couple years so looking forward to it.

Tomorrow is an early departure from Northampton to drive to Afan  I want to ride the MTB before heading to Bristol in the evening to meet my colleagues as we are working at Let's Ride event on Sunday.  I may sneak a visit to Ashton Court in if possible.

I'm planning on tearing up Nidderdale tomorrow. Planning a very early start to miss most of the heat, and taking plenty of water.

Was hoping to get our early door tomorrow for a ~60KM ride on the fat bike. However, the rear has yet another puncture, no idea where as there's no obvious leaking sealant. So instead of the planned ride, I'll be fixing that. Friends round on Sunday, so doubt I'll be able to get more than an hours pootle in...

After struggling in the unreal humidity of a Kielder mix-up ( Lonesome Pine / Deadwater ) yesterday afternoon ..if it's the same tomorrow Im considering not doing anything at all but slowly building up the alcohol content leading up to the match ..

Here is a pic of my mate Dave Tasker in the shadiest part of yesterday's ride .." Oliver's Oscar " on the Lonesome Pine trail

Quick (and shameless) Strava bash in the woods tonight. The heat sent me all abstract.

Still avoiding the sunlight, so I’ll be out earlyish tomorrow and just ride my MTB in the local woods. Not ideal, but UV intolerance is a bitch.

Going to ride red into black into red then maybe blue at Llandegla, whilst talking myself out of pre-ordering a 2019 Bronson Frame to replace my Patrol 🙂

20 road miles on the SS at 7am. Into Didcot soon for some shopping (another 10miles) and a ride this evening on the Ridgeway.

Its fitting it all in this weekend. Henley Regatta, Wimbledon, Silverstone, DH World Cup and the football do eat into the ride time.

No riding this weekend as I'm working today and tomorrow is the British GP which I always watch with my dad.  Could possibly fit in a ride early Sunday morning but I've been suffering with slight dehydration the last week (physical work outdoors isn't fun right now) and I'm planning to ride 3 days in a row next week (Wed-Fri) so a quick gym session Sunday morning will do.

Seems odd not making the most of the sunshine but I'm actually wishing for a bit of rain to cool things down and make everything green again rather than that horrible dead yellow it's all gone.   Even trees are shedding leaves they're that parched!

Tinbasher 79..my mate Ant is over in Keswick and also did a silly o'clock Whinlatter ride this morning ..if you saw a bloke on a fluro orange Orange 5 ..it was probably him ..

I was also up at silly o clock and travelled 30 miles south for a Bolts Law there and back ..the trail was running so sweet ..and at 7.30 temps were at a very pleasant 15c when I started with a lovely cool breeze 18c at the top ..and 24c after I had been to Consett Mac D's for an Iced Rasperry Ripple Cooler after finishing the ride ..

I also had a play around with the " smile " feature on my mobile phone camera ..managed not to crack the lens too..

My pics ..

Did an hour around Prestwich park earlier, might do an hour tomorrow. Given I'm without ebike it's about as long/far as I'm willing to do.

Crikey, that were warm! 95km road ride with 1400m climb in the Dales. Some of the roads were a bit, hmm, "sticky". Felt like you were dragging a brake all the time!

Bit quiet out there this afternoon.

30 miles of finest Hampshire gnarmac in blistering sunshine.

Didn't see a soul almost the whole way around.

Ballater on Thursday and Friday. Heartbreak Ridge is running so well at the moment that I knocked over a minute off my previous best effort!

Probably head out local today....Pitfichie possibly.

Changed plans headed to Cannock, got there early but was feeling the heat on the climbs a short but knackering ride, good to get out rides a ride and all that

I went to Cannock early as well. As you described, much hotter under the trees than expected at 7.30. I sometimes think those pebbles are more slippery when dry!

The trail is called Heartbreak Ridge, just outside Ballater.

2 miles of sweet, sweet singletrack.
