Ballo Woods for lots of laps, 4300ft of up in 15 miles! It was absolutely bone dry 😀. Probably head to Dunkeld on Sunday to make the most of the dry trails.

Still got a couple of days left in Samoens. 3500m of descent today.
It's hot. Trails are dry, fast, steep and I've never ridden as many roots.

I'm coming up to 3 years off from 'proper' mountain biking. Still waiting for the mojo to come back but it's nowhere to be seen.

Still just trying to enjoy arsing around on a bike. Here's an unintentional father and son shot from today at Charnock...

Doing lots of jump sessioning at the moment, building up to these high doubles, at Sherwood Pines.

Lots of fun, until the big crunch

10hrs of driving yesterday from Kent, I'm now in Aberfeldy for 2 weeks, staying 500m from the bottom of the Glassie trails in Weem. Started of by easing into the next 2 weeks of riding/walking with warm up on the local trails this afternoon.

It always takes me a day or so to recalibrate to the trails up here.

Last day of riding for us in Samoens. Set of back home tomorrow. Elated at some of the stuff I've ridden. Just over 52,000 m of descent over the holiday. Road in some amazing places.
No bike fettling needed apart from a set of brake pads front and rear.

95km of hot and hilly (2000m of climbing) gravel riding around East Devon.
Lots of ridges, valleys and the seaside.

Just back from a holiday in kitchbul, Austria. Managed to get a couple of days riding in. Thursday cycled across and rode Wiesenshwang OD trails and up to the Harschbichel descent. Friday, got a ski lift and rode the Fleckalmtrail (absolute amazing, have to watch out for cows as well as features, the cow-bells made it feel like your own enduro)  and the Hahnenkamm ( really good flow trail) and both of them over 3 miles long.

Hahnenkamm trail in the distance, going down to town below

(Next time I'm taking my own bike as it took me a few runs to adjust to the brakes being the wrong way round)

Spent the day at Radfest, mainly sheltering under trees from the scorching sun. Managed to ride on the small low consequence stuff.

Some great photos as usual. That bust crank must have hurt! and @tracey 52,000m? Blimey I thought we'd done well with 15,000 on our Basque week.

https://flic.kr/p/2nxgj2B

https://flic.kr/p/2nxhzfb

Taken near the old hill fort on the Little Doward looking over towards Monmouth. Fantastic trail back to the river. Rode 55km/1200m of climbing with a chunk of Post Covid-19 fatigue. Was fantastic but all I could do when I got home was go to bed!

https://flic.kr/p/2nxhzjV

Not had the Giga out since we came back from Basque in early May. What a fab bike that is esp as we riding some pretty tech-y trails. None of which I have any photos of!

Lessons you'd think I'd have learned by now after 25+ years MTBing...

1 When you check your tyres pre-ride and think 'feels a bit soft but it'll be OK', get the pump out rather than impatiently get on and start the ride.

2 If you get a new CO2 valve gizmo, make sure you know how it operates before you need to use it.

3 If you're not sure how your CO2 works, take a pump with you.

4 If you're faffing with your CO2 trying to work it out, don't keep angrily sticking it on the valve and letting more and more air out of your already soft tyre...

5 If you're having a stupid day, make sure your MTB shoes are fairly comfy to walk in...

Hope you all enjoyed the clement weather and that it continues through the time my collarbone remains broken. For the second summer in as many years 😩

After breaking the hardtail yesterday, I hit Pines on the singlespeed gravel bike. In 29°C heat. A bit daft but still enjoyable

In amongst the bird munchers on the hills between Newtown and Llanidloes. Yesterday afternoon was warm; today would have been unbearable

@thelawman - have you got a gpx for that route? It looks a nice place for a hybrid/gravel bike

@ElShalimo Yep, the outline of the route is visible on the map here on Geograph along with all the photos I took at the time (you can zoom in on the map to get 1:50k or 1:25k maps)
I'll try sending you a gpx now; it might work, or it might not.
I will freely admit that a better (ie quieter/less traffic) route back from Caersws to Newtown is available via the 'back' road on the B4568 thorogh Aberhafesp rather than the main A489. We were fair jiggered by that stage of a hot day, so we took the shortest route home

Back on the bike after too many years, picked out a 30ish km gravel ride round the Pyrenees Atlantique. I remember now how much I love bikes.
