Bring it.
Thickthorn Woods. Warwickshire.

Was really, really hoping for a frozen day today. So sick of the incessant mud locally. Nah, mud it is...
Nice to be out though. The roads were very busy with people staying at home.
Dreaming of multi-day epics under warm and sunny skies
Just above zero, patch of blue but good to be out. Finally tested new wheels and tubeless tyres. Lovely.
MTB tomorrow. Expect ^^ it'll be a similar festival of slurry.
Headed out on the fat bikes for a local loop. Was -5C when we set off, just freezing now.

25km with 600m ascent.
Such a lovely morning. Road and XC to some local DH trails, which I'm pleased to report have been significantly extended with plenty of new features.
Nice to encounter a deer as well as around ten peacocks too.

Fat bike tomorrow on the Cotswolds above Cheltenham little road ride today crossed over the M5 few times loads of cars on the motorway they were dead in March/May last year odd lockdown this time maybe they are going and coming from Snowdon!!!!
Winter wonderland of thick mud, sheet ice & slurry in Worcestershire
Not wet enough for spider duck yet though
North York Moors almost feeling alpine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Quick hour out on the local bridleways. Was hoping for frosty firmness but got soft mire instead

was out early this morning borderline frost vs swamp so ended up with a singlespeed caked in frozen mud, it's been freezing or below all day but it's not permeating the ground enough 🙁

Xc loop of Wharncliffe. Lovely crisp evening.
Still off the bike injured so went for a walk with Mrs stu

went out early today too, not as cold but the going was easier/ground was harder....

can we have a bit of social distancing please #covidiots

reasonably clean bike

Frozen mud this morning.

big hike yesterday.

18 miles of frozen bridleways yesterday, lots of mx ruts and boots shaped death traps to ride through. My legs are still aching now. Great riding in the snow the higher I climbed, really enjoyed the day
Ride out into the New Forest this morning. It was a bit of a tour of the old military sites including Ibsley DF/HF range, Ashley Bombing Range and the Canadian war memorial.

Only pure ice around Glasgow, ride aborted after 30min for my own safety...terrifying.
Rossendale:
Perishing today but incredible to be out.

Quick one Friday with a mate who's only just starting to ride again following a back op ...
Early doors Saturday morning SS HT solo, making the most of the snow and firm trails before the thaw ...
I was hoping for a few degrees less and hard frozen trails.

A couple from yesterday ...

Nice up on the Cotswolds above Cheltenham and Gloucester still a bit of snow around to have fun on the Fattie mind so many walker about.Never seen a frost in Dorset nice up by that arch.

Still slushy snow on the edge of Sheffield but I managed to stay upright. Cold and grim in the mist but great to get out.
Got out on the local hill this afternoon. Took the steepest way up to the top to test out my new-foind gains from the turbo sessions, got up on a new PB by nearly a minute!
The top was a boggy mess though after all the morning walkers and bikers had used it following last night's frost. Was just one giant treacly mess that gave no grip whatsoever!

Was fun though and worth it for the view from the Weather Station before flying back down into the city with mud flying off the tyres!

Tip toeing around a local hill. Not too cold, but slow going.

One of those days... The mud wasn't as frozen and icy as I thought it would be, and the roots were more so...
12 obstacles cleared from one 300m section of trail today - branches, trunk, trees split and pulled down across the trail, even a concrete post with tetanus-laden rusty wire spikes. Don't really understand the motivation of those who do this, but I'll keep on just patiently clearing them and putting the materials beyond use when I come across them. Apart from that (and the mud), it was a glorious day to be out riding in the woods.
Up early (for me!) Saturday morning to catch the sunrise, beautiful morning - even at minus 6!

Cold out on the North Downs yesterday but nice to be out riding all the same.

Some horrendous mud on my local loop, a sloppy layer over a very slimy base that sticks to the bike and then catherine wheels off the tyres even at 10mph.
It got so bad even my singlespeed spat it's dummy out after I spent 10 minutes comically trying to ride sideways up a minor incline.
Cold out on the North Downs yesterday
Who the frig left a rocking chair up there? 😲🤔

My local ride from my door on Sunday. Setting off over ogden it was full of snow but dropping down to Oxenhope below 900ft and it was green fields.

Didn't see a single fat bike tyre tread anywhere.
Great picture Mahalo 👌
