Right, so this weekend it looks like I can get a free pass to head out on the bike - leave Edinburgh Friday late afternoon to be home Sunday evening. I had thought about doing the WHW but the train home is looking a bit pricey.
So where, preferably say 3-4hours drive from Edinburgh would be good for a 1.5 day loop? Happy to either bothy or bivvy but prefer to keep hike a bike to a minimum.

What sort of distance are you looking for?

What kind of riding? Sandstone Way would fit the bill?
