Well the weekend has started!
Kicking off there was a thread asking about the history
http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fort-william-dh-world-cup-history
Out there in You Tube land I found an 04 helmet cam - not a pro one I have to say but the commentary is worthy 🙂

and now for Claudio

Really moving set of pics on Pink Bike of the Stevie Run

Whatever you do take some Smidge. Riding home from the pub last night was like riding through a sandstorm there were that many of them.

Well bit of a shake up in the womens quali, Manon pipping Rachel by 5s with Hannah in 3rd - then 4th is 17s back.
Does Tahnee Seagrave have an injury? Timing has her as started/dnf. Also the only other close to the top 3 ladies was Katy Curd in split 1 but no sign of her after that?

So I'd say the podium will be Manon/Rachel/Tracy in any order really.

Tahnee has ligament damage (shoulder?) so was unsure how she'd cope with the track but was going to give it a try once her physio taped it up.

Fair enough guess she will be out there tomorrow.
Bit of a shake up with Gee out in front, few people having a big drop in places out on track - Minaar was fastest in split 2 I think before dropping big time in the lower half. Gee must have nearly caught Bryceland on track too.

Looks like Greg Williamson should make the top 10 too.

Should be some good racing tomorrow!

I was watching the tissot feed of the lives, people were dropping at random sectors so not sure. I'm guessing it's the fact it's a big long brutal track lots of places to make a mistake

Hats off to Mr Brayton! If he can just find a couple more seconds in the top split he could be right up there tomorrow...

Good a time as any to repost his Schladming RAW amazingness:

Bit of a downhill spectating newbie so go easy on me!

Anyone know anything with Danny Hart's runs? His training run was 12s faster than Gee's training run and Gee's time today - would he have missed a section out?
Today he'd lost a stack of time by S1, but managed to claw back an impressive amount by S2.

Saturday was rather a good day. Great atmosphere, amazing weather, friendly riders, fantastic racing! Surroundedbyhills and I took most of our crew on a family ticket, and rode in on the blue route. 8)

(Sorry about the scratch on the lens ruining most shots 🙁 )

Rach had an off in quali, my money is still on her for the win!

Does Tahnee Seagrave have an injury? Timing has her as started/dnf

Think she came off earlier in the week so I'm guess she's just resting for racing as she's protected?

Also, fair play to Ed Masters, rad result! Looks like it should be a good race.

Yeah, it was a couple of seconds faster (4:40 Danny's timed training vs 4:42 Gee's qualifier) and Danny will have done a full run in timed training.

Looks like he crashed in the first sector in quali. Shows he's on pace for the win though. Stay on your bike Danny!

Does Tahnee Seagrave have an injury?

Yeah, smashed her elbow up at Rhyd Y Felin BDS last week I think, and just rolled out of the start gate in qualis. Not sure if she's racing today or not.

jambalaya - check out the tissot time website higher up, start list is there. Ladies have started already, no TV coverage.

I do find it odd that they insist on "baggy" clothing for the riders to maintain the image of the sport, but they let them ride down in kids pyjamas 😯

do the public get to ride the track?

Most of it- a chunk of the woods and hte big drop are usually closed off but the rest stays open. There's some other bits in this year's track that might need alt lines though I think, interesting to see what they do with some of it.

Riding it like a pro is a different thing to just riding it, mind! But it's a great trail just to ride even as a mortal.

Theres a good reason they dont show more of the womens - its dismal. Getting 3rd place with 20s off the pace and a crash, top 10 place for 40s back.

Mens race however was as competetive as usual, only Minnaar with a significant gap. Great run, smooth when he needed to be, and getting some strong pedalling in too.

@fife sadly you are spot on. Credit to Manon for trying flat out as its clear she can be second or third without really trying

You have to think that growing up with her two brothers and getting to train with them has just put her on a different level. Also probably really helps thats its all just normal whereas other lady riders possibly feel rather different. It would be fascinating to know.

Greg Minnaar, legend. As an all-round rider on the "Man's Tracks" he is probably still the best.

Some massive offs by other riders (Jones, Masters, Brannigan and Atherton) as well. Luckily they all walked away relatively unscathed (given the nature of some of those crashes, probably against the odds).

Also a bit of an emotional day. Peaty' last World Cup and the Stevie Smith tribute run.

I hope they can all now have the piss up they deserve!

Also, big congrats to Rachel Atherton. Nine in a row!
