I do find it odd that they insist on "baggy" clothing for the riders to maintain the image of the sport, but they let them ride down in kids pyjamas ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Ah, that was awesome, the reaction shots... Minaar buries face in hands, Greenland claps and cheers, Danny Hart just quietly smiles like a serial killer ๐Ÿ˜†

They make it look so easy that every time I watch this I think 'I could ride that'. Today that lasted until I watched Claudio's run down the track...

I'm sure most people would rather watch them in pyjamas than having the sight of a man in lycra inflicted on them ๐Ÿ˜†

I reckon Brosnan.

do the public get to ride the track?

Most of it- a chunk of the woods and hte big drop are usually closed off but the rest stays open. There's some other bits in this year's track that might need alt lines though I think, interesting to see what they do with some of it.

Riding it like a pro is a different thing to just riding it, mind! But it's a great trail just to ride even as a mortal.

Tell you somehting, Minaar is class- Danny Hart's congratulating him and he's still just watchin the screen to see if Gee's alright. Good guy greg. Mind you it'd have been nice if he'd won by a bit less ๐Ÿ˜†

And Eddie WTF Masters!!!

Had a chance to ride with him for a bit at EWS, he's fit, strong and fast as ****. I think he works pretty hard at the image, to make people think otherwise

I tried to get somewhere near his and Wyns strava out in Roto, wow just wow

Just saw his commitment to not seeming to be too good "Aw ****, I'd better have a massive comedy crash!"

Danny Hart, ever the professional. Not put off by the group of lads mooning at him near the Strathmore advert near the top!

Theres a good reason they dont show more of the womens - its dismal. Getting 3rd place with 20s off the pace and a crash, top 10 place for 40s back.

Mens race however was as competetive as usual, only Minnaar with a significant gap. Great run, smooth when he needed to be, and getting some strong pedalling in too.

@fife sadly you are spot on. Credit to Manon for trying flat out as its clear she can be second or third without really trying

You have to think that growing up with her two brothers and getting to train with them has just put her on a different level. Also probably really helps thats its all just normal whereas other lady riders possibly feel rather different. It would be fascinating to know.

Greg Minnaar, legend. As an all-round rider on the "Man's Tracks" he is probably still the best.

Some massive offs by other riders (Jones, Masters, Brannigan and Atherton) as well. Luckily they all walked away relatively unscathed (given the nature of some of those crashes, probably against the odds).

Also a bit of an emotional day. Peaty' last World Cup and the Stevie Smith tribute run.

I hope they can all now have the piss up they deserve!

Also, big congrats to Rachel Atherton. Nine in a row!

What a weekend. Was very emotional re. Peaty and Smith. The "ghost" run was eerie. I was up at peaty's bar getting beers when it happened. The silence was humbling.

Overall an amazing weekend. The track was wild. Much respect to everyone involved

Looking back at it now, Greg Minnaar's run created what, in cricketing parlance, is called scoreboard pressure. He had the time posted early and the rest felt the pressure of trying to beat it. Danny Hart could have done it, but he made a bollocks of the wooded section and a few other "1%" errors lost him too much momentum.

You've got to take your hat off to Greg Minnaar, though. On the long and rough tracks he is still number one. Fort William, Val Di Sole and Mont St Anne are all tracks where he is the man to beat. On other tracks, he is still there or thereabouts. If you make a mistake, he will be quicker.

Can't wait for Leogang next week.

I watched the women through the new woods section and all bar Rache and Tracey looked terrified, they all had big dabs, though even quite a few of the men had trouble in there. I initially stood there looking at it thinking "I'm looking forward to having a go at that" Maybe not so much now I've seen the big boys struggle with it.
Stevies ghost run brought a tear to my eye, it was complete silence down in the finish area.

And then it becomes self fulfilling, less sponsorship, less motivation to take women on your team, less opportunity for them to progress and ride at the top level. This is always a track that can spread a thinner field due to the size and scale. The amount of places you could make a mistake was huge.
The men's race had 13th 10s back that won't happen on a lot of tracks this year.
