I've got an old xc bike which needs some new brakes pads. The brakes are parallelogram XT and I think the pad holders are XT as well but I'm not sure.
Thing is the rims are well worn. I don't use the bike hard nowadays, it's been relegated to dog runs and the odd moorland ride. So I don't need brilliant brakes but would like to get the pads that would be kindest to the poor old rims if there's anything in it, any ideas anyone?

Aha. I just took the pad out the holder.

It's not the pads that wear the rims - it's the mud and grit that gets on them. I don't think it's going to make much difference.
Hmm I thought that may be the case.
