Want to convert normal MAVIC XC717 rims to tubeless using Stans rims strips. Can I then fit UST tyres on them without any problems

Yes, thats what I resorted to after f'ing about with normal tyres on XC717's (using stans) - I'm currently running these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=1652 with no problems

Should do but IIRC some people have had problems with 717s, poss because of the narrowness.

I have used 717s with (ghetto) tubeless - they will work BUT they are very unforgiving i.e. rim and tire bead has to be problem free. In my experience of course 🙂
