I've got all the memory map maps on DVD, and for my android phone have used m,tracker which is cool as it allows you to simply transfer the files into the map folder.
Just got an iPad, and from my understanding, if I were to get the official mm app, I would need to download new maps (which I don't want to ). Is there an app that will allow me to simply transfer my current maps 'into it'? Similar to mmtracker but for iOS?

Cheers,

DrP

In the App description it says you can load maps from the Memory Map PC software.

Would that solve your problem?

I am using Viewranger so I can't check for you.

I've got memory map on my iphone, I'm assuming it's similar to the iPad app. In the app itself there's an option to import/export files - you can then copy files via your laptop's web browser. You should be able to copy in all your old map files, providing they're still in the format supported by MemoryMap

ah, cheers - I must have been prematurely dismissive of the ability to transfer!
Will look deeper at the official mm app!

I've got it too. When synced in iTunes click on your iPad, then click on Apps, scroll down to the transfer files bit, select Memory Map then just select the maps you want transferred and it'll do it via USB.

oh, you need to have proper licensed maps as it uses the online licensing, so if its some stuff you've downloaded from a torrent site ot won't work.

Old versions of MemoryMap used to allow you to use any maps but not any more. If the DVD you have is legitimate you may be able to register the license key which will then allow them to be used

I'll rephrase my original post - I've got some maps on official DVD... 😉

Cheers - will see how it goes!

Yeah the version of the MMap app that used to cost £20 did let you use any MM maps but a recent update seemed to bring in some DRM gubbins that means that less *ahem* legit maps no longer work. I had hoped the £20 I paid for the app was enough to "legitimise" my previous acquisitions in an iTunes Match style but obviously not!

I've gone back to using an old app called "QCTViewer" which works perfectly with MM maps. Unfortunately MM managed to get it removed from the app store a long time ago so I don't think you can get hold if it anymore (also not sure how well it scales up for iPad use).

I didn't have to pay £20 to get it working on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 the Android app is free 😆

Well, mmtracker is £6, which I agree is a fair bit cheaper than the official MM app for iOS. Oh well.... will see...

Gosh I'm lazy...nope, didn't look much further into it.
Good incentive to try though...
