I'm planning a bit of a ride to raise some money for St Ann's Hospice (again). The last time I did this, London to Manchester in 13 and a bit hours, I managed to raise £1500 and some of the then regular forum members won a TV, skills day with Jedi amongst other things in my unique 'sponsor me and you're in the raffle' competition.

I should have done Tour Divide last June but 2017 saw me in a real mess for 10 months off sick, suicidal, mixed state manic and depressed.....yeah, a bit of a shit year.  Happily, I've now got my Quetiapine (600mg) per day straightening me out although I've binned the Kemadrin. Those hallucinations were not nice.

A chance passing meeting with NBT and Bunnyhop last Saturday "Have you got any big ride plans?" (I have previous for this nonsense) got me thinking and I've come up with a Blackpool Tower to Eiffel Tower ride running through my bipolar affective disorder addled brain. I'm thinking 4 days (doable), 3 days (tough) or 2 days (that's going to sting a bit).

I had some lovely people come out and ride with me on my last fund raiser but this time, I'd prefer to do it in permanent company. So, while this daft plan is in its infancy, if anybody would like to do it with me (you can choose your own charity- if any), drop me an email and we can start getting this sorted.

I've not been on here for a while and it looks different. I'm guessing my email is still in my profile. One last thing. This is a road ride although I'm all ears if an off road route is suggested.

You need a big fat wind break? I could possibly fill those shoes. All road sounds a bit tedious but it gets the miles ticked off more easily i guess. I know the plan is little more than an idea but if you want to chat about it, you know where I am. I could have 2 or 3 other pedal turners too.

By the way, there isn't an email address in your profile.

Mate! That would be mint! You can sit on the front all day. "Eat My Pie". I'll be in touch.

I'm no good at all as a wind break but it'd be nice to see you again and I'd happily ride for the first day.

Leave your details at the bike shop, you're only just up the road from mine.

Things are moving, albeit slowly. Due to hospice fund raising promotions and a few other bits, it looks like this is going to be a mid week event, sorry. I appreciate this may cause insurmountable problems for some who are interested in giving it a go but it is what it is. I'd have preferred a long weekend as well.

The week commencing Monday 6th August looks like the official date. Pencilled in for 4 days (including getting back from Paris) so it needs to be done in no more than 3 days. 2 if we can manage it.

On the 7th August I'm setting off from Blackpool Tower to ride to the Eiffel tower in three days to raise money for St Ann's Hospice. I did a ride from London Velodrome to Manchester Velodrome in just over 13 hours and I almost died. It was horrible but I raised the best part of £1500, mostly from this forums' members and some of you won some prizes.

Now as before, I'm asking for your very generous donations BUT with a difference. For every £1 donated, you get a raffle ticket in to a prize draw to take place after the event (hopefully by somebody famous).

The prizes  collection will be added to as the day, weeks and months go by assisted by the fund raising department at St Ann's Hospice but as of today's date they consist of a Toshiba 33" flat screen TV,  a pair of Hope 29" wheels,  a months free membership to New Bodies Gym (Buxton and New Mills) including any and all classes, a UB40 greatest hits vinyl album, free bike service (excluding parts) at Bicycle Smithy. All products are obviously brand new and unopened. I'll update this thread as more prizes are announced. Simply make a donation to my Just Giving web page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/twintowers540miles and send an email to twintowers540@gmail.com with your name, number of tickets and telephone number (it won't be passed to anybody else) and I'll photo the tickets and email them back to you.

Anybody wishing to ride with me for part or all of the journey would be more than welcome.

For now, my thanks go to : www.newbodiesgym.co.uk  www.bimm.co.uk/manchester www.bicyclesmithy.co.uk
