My Specialized Levo (Gen 2 2021 model), nearly did for me at the weekend. Well, it wouldn't start, so I took my Stage 6 out on the big loop I'd originally intended to do and that nearly murdered me, but it was still the ebike's fault.
It powers up, then immediately shuts down if I short press (less than a sec) the power button. If I hold the power button down for around 5 secs, it powers up and appears to stay on, but I'm locked out of the system. I can't change the assist mode unless I power the bike down again and change the assist mode on startup via the app. Not ideal, as you can imagine.
I've gone through all the usual suspects, thoroughly cleaning the charger port, resetting (I think), the TCU (I recently replaced its battery), removing the main battery and popping it on recharge for a while to see if that'll sort things out, but no joy.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? I'm on a very limited budget, so would prefer to try and fix it myself, but the parts are eyewatering expensive. The cable that connects the battery to the motor, is I believe the most likely suspect, but the cheapest I've seen is nearly £80, so I'd like to be sure I'm getting the correct part before splashing the cash.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
You might find specific help on the EMTB forum: https://www.emtbforums.com/forums/specialized.4/
Or, locally, John at Electric Bike Clinic was recommended to me - not sure if he covers Spesh motor systems though.
I had this on a KSL with the Mastermind TCU, turns out it was the switch on the handlebar at fault.

My advice would be to not buy any parts at all until you have properly diagnosed the fault, you are literally guessing otherwise.
Your app will be able to pull some fault codes off, otherwise really you want to be getting your local dealer to diagnose, even if you dont pay them to do the repair.
I had a Levo sl with a similar issue. ( out of warranty)
Biketreks at Ings did a software update and cleaned out the terminals from the tcu to the motor. Said there was minor water damage. I said it’s an ebike, I ride it in Cumbria. It’s gonna get wet…
Change out of £20, all sorted.
Do you get some very faint battery lights (blue /red) not appearing for long after power up.
when mine stopped powering up (and shortly displaying weird battery lights) a new battery motor cable sorted it. (Mine didn’t power up stall though just flickered and then nothing)
can you borrow a cable to test ?
Most likely the battery to motor cable, there was a updated version as the original was at an angle that caused it to get squashed/bent and damaged the wiring
Check to see if you have the updated version, it should be all one piece and the cable should be flat not round
It's deliberately broken itself to make you buy the new model.
Mine had an intermittent battery-motor connection similar to the idea you proposed. There was nothing wrong with the cable itself, it had just shaken itself out a bit according to the shop (warranty job). It could be worth checking all the connections at the undercarriage end too if you're self-diagnosing.
Cheers everyone, I'm pretty sure now that the problem is with the old style battery - motor cable as it's been a source of non startup issues for a while. I'll let you know how I get on!
