Is it possible or do I need to get a threaded schrader valve (and if so where do I get one of those?) Is planned to be a DIY tape job.

There are grommets available to reduce the hole size, Edinburgh Cycles sell them (or did last year).

it'll be fine as long as you tape over the inner hole and make the hole in the tape the right size for a presta valve but you can get those little grommets to fill the outer hole and stop your rim filling with water, as above.

Either use a grommet, some half width electrical tape arround the valve or not bother and just dont overtighten the locknut (my prefered option).

I use a "standard" stans valve on my drilled out DT5.1 works fine.

edit: from just riding along ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Standard Valve: now discontinued.

Thanks all - looks like I might as well go presta then. I've used normal electrical grommets to reduce the hole size when using tubes - rather cheaper than the bike version!

Standard Valve: now discontinued.

Bah!

There's always the old fashioned "cut one out of a tube" option - appropriately old fashioned if I'm doing old fashioned taping.
