Running Gravelkings on my hardtail, they've done nearly 4K miles but still have plenty of life in them . Front one has been playing up , thorns , doing the usual pump it back up ride it , works for a while . Did the water test including valve . Topped up with Stans today fine riding to cafe while we were stopped it lost air ok enough to ride home .
Took tyre off pulled out 8 thorns, thought there might have been more ?.Checked the tyre over for potential hidden snipers couldn't find any .Rim and tape were fine .So do I go through the rigmarole ( not too bad but they are tight !).of fitting, adding sealant knowing there are at least 8 holes now I've taken the thorns out 🙄hoping Stansย will seal them or do I get a fresh tyre ?What would STW experts do ?
I usually leave the thorns in, gives the sealant something to work with, like an organic anchovy.ย
I reckon if it's loosing air that fast, you've got a more fundamental problem.ย

Very much this.
You could try swapping the tyres around to check whether it is actually the tyre.
I sometimes find that valve cores can leak if they get a bit bent or the little rubber bit gets worn.
@tthew yeah worth taking the tape off and checking the rim , I've just checked looks like the wheel is the original from when I built the bike up in 2012 ! 🤔
Guesstimate mileage 40K plus !ย
