There's usually something about in the sales but I've seen nothing despite some pretty avid searching, any ideas?

Boardman Comp 650B and Voodoo Bizango 29er, both have air-forks, available in 16" frame and less than £600 at the moment.
That's your best option at the moment for a brand new bike. Various ways to get more money off from Halfrauds too.
