I ment what size frame for a 6ft 3incher ?
Out of curiosity, can I use a shim and a 27.2 seat post as I need the setback?
Bit of a PSA here. Just had my regular email from planet x, and these vittoria voyager tyres are much cheapness.

at £10 an end, I thought they'd be useful. Seeing as I'm still waiting for my frame to arrive, why not buy stuff I can't use.
They are supposed to be great, unfortunately too big for my kaffenback

Not impressed with shinybikes when I phoned to see when they were expecting the frame they said they had stock of when I bought it on the 18th of last month, so I think I might cancel my order tomorrow.

Phone or email upgrade bikes and find out when stock will actually be available to the retailers. Good price on the frameset though.
Edit.. just been on the upgrade bikes website and it say 4+ weeks on frames. So either cancel your orders and buy elsewhere (for more money), try and haggle some free stuff from shinybikes for waiting, or just wait.
The guy at shiny said that he would check with upgrade and get back yesterday, but the same guy said that again today. Not sure I would feel confident about warranty issues with them.
Fatbirds say that they have a 54 on their website, but I might put it down to fate telling me not to get one.

If you believe fate crap. Its just proved to be more popular than they expected (probably due to this thread). Demand has outstripped supply. Its worth the wait unless you have absolutely no other bike to ride
I ordered a full bike from Freeborn about a month ago online, they got back to me next day to explain they were out of stock until later in the year & refunded me straight away, so hats off to them for being on the ball. Next day ordered from Shinybikes - heard nothing so after a week I rang them & they said no frames till end of year - I'd have still been waiting if I hadn't rang them but they did refund me straight away, so it seems check on stock before pressing the order button is the best policy.I did strike lucky & found a frame which I'm collecting as a built up bike tomorrow - Christmas has come early 🙂
ok, so I cancelled my ShinyBikes order - the guy didn't seem surprised and was as downbeat as for all my other recent calls.
I then bought a 54cm frameset from fatbirds as they had stock - so ordered for before 12 delivery tomorrow.
However Kaspersky tried it's utmost to stop me buying it - for each barclaycard attempt through firefox and also chrome.
And then it was shown as out of stock, so not available for next day delivery.
And then when I did get past Kaspersky Barclaycard fraud prevention then declined the purchase! Not quite sure why as I am always buying bike stuff so it is not unusual.
Then Kaspersky tried to get in the way of a Paypal purchase, so I uninstalled it.
So it really feels like Fate was trying to stop me buying this frameset - a bit like this bit in "The Man With two Brains" when he asks for a 'Sign' but then ignores it :
Dang I had ordered mine before reading this thread ShinyBikes said 2 weeks, and after that next year. Looks like next year then. 🙁 Or a Gran Fondo but I don't want one of those.

there is always the chance that I prefer the croix de fer for my short, hour long dashes round horsell common and I end up putting the 54cm tripster atr in the classifieds...
I'll keep them peeled then Though there is a Croix de Fer on offer in one of my LBS.. a grand, seemed a good deal. But I was hoping to roll road bike and child towing bike into one with a dash of added offroad fun, and thought I'd want something a little posher on road. Maybe I should buy the Croix and something carboney for road use only :-/

the stock Croix de fer is a bit on the heavy side, although the newer ones have been getting better.
Mine with ultegra chainset/ultegra fd/105 rd/stans iron cross on hope/BB7s/light pedals is 22.5lbs, and that is fine I think, only 2lbs more than my 725 genesis equilibrium.
It is a fun bike and nice and springy, and perfect for my common blasts and some rides of a little further.
Next years has a slight geometry change I think, maybe higher in the HT.
The Tripster ATR does look a different kettle of fish though.

If you don't mind one with a slight mark on the seat tube by the front mech mount, there's one at Fred Williams cycles in wolverhampton for sale?
Have posted this before but it was at the bottom of a page so not many may have noticed, as I couldn't complete the build during my holidays I don't mind waiting for another (and the mark is the slightest mm of a nick to be fair - so if you want one right now I'd go for it).
If you think the Croix is perfect for your common blasts you are going to be blown away by the ATR!
I've managed 2000km in 9weeks on my tripster and to be honest, it's an absolute joy to ride, seriously. I've never ridden a better all rounder.
Yes there are better mountain and road bikes but nothing that does everything so bloody well. Wondrous machine. New chain on its way....!
mistergrizzly - I have today picked up said frame from Fred's built up with 5800 105 groupset. Just taken it out for a spin, bit of road,bit of old railway line, it is just great, flys along the tracks & very smooth. Anyone waiting for a frame - it is worth the wait!! 🙂
.. and its comments like the above that just keep me hanging on. Was all set to get a croix on c2w, but just wanted a little bit more pizazz if it was going to replace 2 bikes properly.
Will probably be going to give Apex a go, cheap enough as an experiment and should have the gear spread for anything.

mistergrizzly - I'm in Northants so not local. Build was 5800 105 with 32 cassette,Shimano discs, deda alu bars stem seatpost, Kinesis crosslight wheels (vittoria randonneur tyres atm),Kinesis Volt saddle.
I'll try to post a photo on here if anyone can tell me how to do it!

My wheels are 1610g and I think the Kinesis crosslight V3 wheels are more like 1500, so that's a useful weight saving there.
My seatpost is titanium and light, but my saddle is an old gel flow flite so that could also be a little lighter.
Obviously I will be saving 20 or 30g when I go from BB7s to the Spyre SLCs 🙂
My Brifters and rear mech are 105 so they could be ultegra.
And I have the steel fork, so more potential weight saving there...
But my peddles are the 4ti eggbeaters, so pretty light.
[b]pannier rack[/b] - apologies for dimness but is there only one type that fits? I have one in my dungeon that was used on a disk-braked hardtail so any reason why it wouldn't fit?

I have been keeping a close eye on Tripster ATR and this thread in particular. I had managed to scrape together the funds to buy just recently, only to find that I couldn't find the frame size I needed (54). Consequently, I managed to track down and plumped for a 57, but in reality it is a tiny bit too big for me, I can ride it comfortably but a 54 would definately be better suited for me.
Therefore, if anyone on here is in the opposite situation...ie has a 54 but would prefer a 57 I would be pretty keen to talk 8)

@TurnerGuy, that's your problem, right there - I know that finding an anti-virus solution is tricky, but Kaspersky isn't it.
Glad you got the frame in the end - a friend of mine turned up on his Tripster for our yearly [url= http://www.strava.com/activities/194766135 ]epic trek to the coast[/url] and, despite being the only rigid forked bike, kept up over the rougher sections and looked just as fresh as the rest of us, at the end.

It was the one Barclays were pushing to customers free, so I thought that I would try it rather than renew what I had before. Th 2013 version seemed to cope with the redirections OK, but I have just 'upgraded' to the 2014 version.
Maybe I will try McaFee ? 🙂

@TurnerGuy : I'm actually after a 51 having had a recent bikefit (all my bikes are usually 54 buty I am long legged apparently). Shiny Bikes say that they are flying some in by plane, should be here soon 🙂 Of course it will heh heh.
I'm now hoping for October. 🙂 The frame does exist cos I've cuddled it. 😉
