Lots of Araldite used to seal up this build. Hence his new name Arold, dropping the H is important 🙂
I am no expert at these things just a bodger, but this seems to have come out OK, the shots were taken at 7.15am. I was busy with the glue last night.

2.8 amps ON/OFF switch - simple fixed current driver. Triple cute optic 9'. Huge amount of heat sinking - it is very quickly pleasantly warm to touch, but stays this way. 2 quad 18650 in parallel tucked under saddle. Probably 2 hr run time - yet to test. A nice chap at work turned two Al blocks to fit perfectly as heatsinks.
The torch head I had lying around and I know it is huge compared to the LED and optic, but honestly, it was a squeeze with the soldering and the switch, so I was glad of the space and allowed me to drop in huge lumps of aluminium for the heatsink. The "I hope it lights when I flick this switch" moment is comical.

Thanks Toutie, bows graciously, no way near as tidy as your Dominator though. I would love to find somewhere to give me lessons on a mill. People will always want a reliable purpose built light with proper heat sinking that runs for over 2 hours at full tilt. Keep going.

The limiting factors seem to be heat and Li-Po batteries now.

Wally - Where did you get the 18650 battery encloser from? Your light build looks the business.

Cutter for LED, driver and Optics- £70
Battery holder is an extinct Turbo Ferret holder. He was a member on here and did a limited run before moving abroad, I believe. They are fab because they have room for longer Senybor 18650's. You will find them hard to find.
Triple XML's at full tilt, 2.8 amps do need 8 cells to get a 2 hour run time with basic cells (trustfire)
