I'm going to be over in Mallorca for a few days in April with the wife.
I'm taking my bike and have hired a bike box (a Polaris) from my LBS.
My question is what sort of car should I be looking to hire? There will be the two of us plus the bike box and suitcases.
If I hire a standard Golf/Focus type hatchback, is that likely to accommodate the bike box, assuming we'll have to put the back seats down? Or should I err on the side of caution and pay a bit extra to hire an estate?
Not sure on the dimensions but an evoc will go easily into a golf floor plan car with seats down. Bags on top, had mine in a jetta, a3, camry, corolla etc
My mate and I hired a Golf at Palma airport and fit the two of us in it, plus 1 bike box and another bike in a soft bag, plus 2 rollaboard (Easyjet size) cabin bags.
You should be fine with just the 2 of you, so long as your suitcases aren't too large.
Road or mtb? If it’s the former then you could save yourself the hassle and hire out there (assuming you don’t already know this)
It's a road bike.
I have hired over there before but on this occasion I'll be doing the Mallorca 312 so about 195 miles in a day. Because of that I've decided I'd be better off having my own bike.
Sounds like a Golf type car should do the trick.
