Anybody tried one, having decided to ditch my pitch I ordered a bfe which I was going to run with some lyrics. Thinking now I might be better with a wagon wheeler instead. Looking at the trans am as it seems to be aimed at a burly build.

Will be fitted with 120mm forks and ridden in the peaks mainly plus trips to the lakes/scotland. Anyone got one, ridden one etc any alternatives top budget 600 for the frame.

Singular Buzzard.
Yelli (might have to raid the piggy bank)
Titus Fireline Evo (as long as you run small tyres and no front mech 😉 )
Kona honzo.
Yelli (again)

Guess a 2Souls QH would be beyond your budget too then..?

Someday, someday I tell myself...

Mike at Dialled Bikes is coming out with a 29er PA sometime soon... saw a prototype at The Bike Chain a week or so ago - should, I think, be slacker than a Solaris..?

The Dialled 29er will probably be a bit slacker than a Solaris, but doesn't have iscg tabs compared to the trans am, if that makes any difference to you.

The Solaris is the same head angle as the Trans-Am 29er. 71 degrees with 80mm fork sagged = 68.5 degrees with 120mm fork static.

Solaris definately cant take big tyres!

Have a look at the Diamondback Mason and Whyte 929 also.

I'd say a Solaris is plenty slack enough with 120mm forks.

I ride my Solaris mainly in the Peak and it has been fandabidozee and feels much more stable than the geo might suggest; perhaps the effect of a steel frame, 29" wheels and 120 Marz forks combined?

If you want to try mine out I'd be willing to accompany you to let you ride it. It's a large with dropper post, 50mm stem and wide bars so if you're 5'10" to 6'3" it'll be comfy enough for an hour or two. I'm 6'2" so almost need an XL.

Mail in profile.

There are the only two Slack HA 29er hardtails that

1. Are steel
2. Accept a 142mm rear thru axle.
3. Have ISCG tabs

The transAm29 and the Kona Honzo. The Canfield Nimble9 is being revised and may join them.

The Honzo and Transition have significantly different geometries other than the HA though

The Honzo can only do E-type front derailleurs as well.
